You need honey bees to pollinate it.

I’ll take that off your hands. I can find it a good home.

Seriously though, I myself cannot grow REAL tomatoes for the life of me.
Anyone with tips and some wisdom for getting those plump red fruits to cooperate??

My Grandfather always said:
“If you can’t grow ‘em, then you best smoke ‘em”

Don't water with tap water out of the hose.
Get two barrels. Rainwater collection.
If there isn't enough water then fill with water hose and let the chlorine flash off. After a couple days it'll all be gone and you cam valve a barrel in and water the garden.
My uncle would do that and his garden was bad arse. I started doing that with small barrels and it made a huge difference.
You have to ferilize as well. A lot of.people overlook the water. I don't drink from the tap i keep a pitcher I leave out overnight after filling before bed and I drink out of that the next day. Really helped my indigestion. I drink a lot of water.

At this point you might as well wrap in little pieces of white paper and burn it!

Thanks brother. I have been letting chlorine leach out of my water for my hydroponics because it is strong in our area. Never thought about outside but it makes sense.
How do you keep mosquitos out of it??
I have a variety of those tomatoes growing right now in hydro, wonder when I will get some juicy tomatoes from them?

Cherry tomatoes are less of an aggravation. Start with a variety that works well where you live and move on from there.

tomatoes are an early summer and fall crop. the night time temp has to be low enough for flowers to pollinate

I tried tomatoes for the first time. Started from seed and produced over 25 plants from one pack of seeds. I was pretty excited and after they reached about 6” in the starter pots I transplanted them into a garden on a spare part of my backyard. Out of 20 plants some grew 2 feet to 6 feet tall. They produced 4 tomatoes.
Then started turning yellow, then brown and died.
The odd thing is I planted okra right next to the tomatoes and the okra are kicking arse. For the last couple of weeks I have enough that I can saute’ as a side vegetable for dinner every night.
I’m definitely doing okra again next season. But I think I’ll pass on tomatoes. Obviously I have no idea how to grow tomatoes. My grandparents grew the hell out of tomatoes and made it look so easy.

There are some good videos on YouTube that can help you grow better tomatoes

Remember that thing advertised on TV that hung from the eave of the house and grew the tomato plant upside down? I bought two of those years ago and they grew tomatoes like crazy. Seriously, check online and get one of those if you want to grow some. That thing worked.

If you ever heard of Black Jack Mud or Clay, my Uncle was tilling up a section of it years ago, I didn't think anything would grow in that stuff. I asked what he was planting. He said only one thing will grow in Black Jack, Okra. He had a great stand of Okra.
Too Add, Okra is in the Mallow family of plants, in that same family of plants, Cotton and Hibiscus. The more you know.
