I'm willing to bet Lee was antagonizing that old dude for years. Guy's like Lee are "fricking assholes", that go the extra mile to bully people.

My Dad always used to tell me about this guy named Terry George.

Ol’ Terry was a Teamster. He was the bodyguard of Teamster boss Edward Grady Partin and he was THE Billy Badass of Baton Rouge. A huge bully...absolutely LIVED to frick with people because he knew they wouldn’t do anything about it.

Late one night after a hard night of drinking, ol’ Terry walked out of a bar on Airline Highway and face-first into a blast from both barrels of a sawed-off shotgun. Dead on the spot, in all likelihood never knew what hit him.

The moral of this story: no matter how big and bad you may think you are, there’s always something bigger and badder out there.

The Teamsters back in the 70s were a pretty rough bunch that lived dangerously. A lot of those guys had contracts out on their lives, allegedly with full legal immunity for anybody who fulfilled said contracts. I remember when they got involved in the EBRP teachers strike in ‘79. My mom was scared to let me get anywhere near my school.

The Tommy Craig incident sounds a lot like the Tony Dawgs scene from “Casino”. The killer just walked into a bar and just started shooting the place up.

Sounds like the song Bad Bad Leroy Brown. With age I've learned not to frick with anyone. You never know how crazy or close to a breaking point someone really is. It amazes me how two old me like this would let this happen. I can't even tell you the names of my neighbors and I sure as hell not fricking with their property.

Everything is still there. There were, what I assume to be, friends and family members hanging out in front of the house yesterday for a few hours

I don’t know if Terry George’s murder was a hit or not. I always had the impression that it was just somebody who was tired of taking his shite.

And this is why.

Either way, he was just a few houses from the interstate and Bonnabel.

I consider Big Lee's area to be Bonnabel Place.

big Lee and his celebrity status

That was mostly in Big Lee's head. Family/friends have lived in this neighborhood for 50+ years and no one I know thought of Lee Martin as a celebrity. Everyone I know that saw Lee's house cringed at the thought of living next to all of that tacky display.

That house.

It's a shame Jeff Parish doesn't have a nuisance ordinance covering home decor. Mitch Landrieu would have torn down that crap in NOLA.

We have some PITA codes for sure. I just got my neighbor popped because she aimed floodlights directly at my house. Hotspot has to be solely on one's own property.

If Lee wasn't getting fined, he was well read on the codes

The lots alone north of Veterans in that area are going for $185k or more

There was a house on Ridgeway and 17th Street with structural damage. Price on sign was $274,900. I think it sold for 100K less and it was torn down. Then the new owners paid to have 2 large oak trees removed.

Prices in this neighborhood are sky high and any decent property is snapped up right away. If you don't believe me, go to realtor .com and look up zip codes 70002 and 70005.

Tell me bout it. Been looking for 3 months and finally closing on one in 70002. Saw it the first day of showing and offered that day. They had 2 back up offers very next day. Markets crazy.
