Hey guys, wife and I are planning on doing a trip to Chicago next summer to catch a game at Wrigley.

i know its a ways out, but trying to get some ideas on where to stay and what to do. we are planning on being there 3 or 4 days. ive been once for a quick trip and shes never been.

anything you would recommend that are "must do's" while we are there? like i said we are going to a Cubs game and will probably stay downtown around the Pier and Michigan Ave.

Also, is a quick day trip to Milwaukee worth it? ive never been and heard its a cool city in the summer.

Thanks in advance

This. Preferably naked but I'll allow bra and panties since nudity will get you banned.

Milwaukee is fun but not worth the hassle. Especially if you are only in town for 3-4 days.

Anytime I book a hotel in downtown I just use Hotwire and select a 4 star or better and have never had bad luck. Stayed at the Intercontinental, Fairmont and Allerton hotels, all were a good experience.

If you are visiting in the summer check for festivals. There will be several going on pretty much every weekend. I personally think going into the different neighborhoods can be just as fun as spending time downtown. Places like Lincoln Square, Chinatown, Andersonville and Wicker Park/ East Humboldt Park (during the day) all have their different unique perks.

Spent a week there in August. Great city. As said, do the river tour. We booked through the architectural foundation. Do it at dusk, beautiful. We stayed in Wicker Park neighborhood. Lots of funky places to check out on Mileaukee ave (including an LSU bar near Milwaukee and Ashland). We also did dinner at Kendall college. Google their dining room. They're students who cook, wait on you, etc. great experience. Another cool place was the purple pig. Small plate meals but got to try some cool dishes. Enjoy. Great city to visit.

It's an hour and a half train ride and there are 14 or 15 trains a day. Leave in the morning, return before dinner. Take your pic with The Fonz.

Often overlooked because it's not downtown is the Museum of Science and Industry, a really one-of-a-kind attraction. It's just a 20 minute train ride from Michigan and Randolph.

The Art Institute has one of the finest collections of French Impressionists in the world. Your wife will love you for it.

Look into the Ravinia Festival and see who's in town while you're there. Take a box lunch and enjoy the music under the stars. Train from the loop drops you right at the gate.

Eat at girl and the goat, check out Willis tower and/or have a drink at the top of the John Hancock building. Go to navy pier. Check out Eataly if you're into Italian food. Go to Millenium park. Don't know what you're looking to spend but bidding a couple hundred a night can get you a five star hotel.

We went to the science and industry museum over the field museum. Almost every major city has a natural history museum and we wanted something more unique. Only regret is not budgeting more time to stay there. We had a blast.

Ask thoroughly enjoyed a boat tour with the Chicago architecture foundation, you should definitely do that.

I'll explain the field museum in the words of a coworker...."it's a lot of bones..."

Personally I think the thin crust Chicago style is much better. If you do want to go check out some deep dish though, avoid Giordanos. So overrated. Best pizza place in the city is Vito and Nicks, but it is also pretty far on the south side. Pequods and Lou Malnattis are two other pretty good spots that will be a little easier to get to

As for something that the wife will really enjoy, check out Oddysey dinner cruises. It leaves out of Navy Pier and takes you up and down the coastline for a few hours. Live music, rooftop for scenic views, good drinks and food, ect.
