These parents are so eat up with the dumb and the “oh noz travel ball is must to play in high school” they don’t realize it.

And yet the vast majority of kids won’t make the HS team. That’s the funny part.

My youngest son just graduated high school. He has played baseball and football since he was 6. He played rec ball till he was 12 then started playing summer ball as I call it. He played for his Jr. High and the high school teams.

That’s how it should be. Not 6u coach pitch travel ball.

Wouldn't that mean you're in a rec league paying travel ball prices?

We put my 4 y/o on a local 6U team since rec doesn’t start til 5, mainly to feel it out. The league finals involved a coach vs. parents fight, at 6U! The most talented team lost and the kids were being scolded by the parents and were in tears. We concluded that experiment….

I am so tired of jealous dads calling it “travel ball.”

Call it what it is. It’s baseball. Don’t be jealous.

On the development piece, my son went from riding the bench last year in Rec ball (with an idiot coach) to short stop on my team and quite frankly, it’s because of the way I’ve developed him as a coach through travel ball. Some of the greatest memories of my life.

I for one fully support the way the game is progressing. I can assure you 100% of the tigers on the team this year were travel ball boys.

I honestly can’t tell if this is real or parody.

So you're going to give men's nuts back to them from their wive's purses?

Everyone lives all over, but there is no reason, in nearly any sport, for a team based in Texas to have to leave Texas to compete. Lacrosse sends us to Dallas and Austin on the reg, but we don't need to fly to Maryland for 11 year olds.

Yep, I have my U9 squad doing the StrongLifts 5x5 program. May or may not be looking the other way when they look to supplement their gains further. They are absolutely blowing by their peers right now.

Your kid will barley make his high school team. At least he has 54 travel ball rings in his room though.

have no idea wtf any of that means but travel ball is dumb. No adult with any hobbies at all that I know is willing to give up every single weekend for braxxxtyn to get his 45th ring.

Ease up on braxtons parents. Not their fault your kid sucks at baseball

this BS is still going on?

i do find it funny as hell, bunch of people who dont have kids in sports or dont have kids at all constantly commenting on stuff they have no clue about

or the ones that say...well we have 3 kids that played rec and made the team this year....come to find out they live in bum frick egypt and its a school of less than 200 kids. like that applies to the big schools in the metro areas

also find it funny that many here think its some LC thing because of me when LC has way less teams than Laffy, BR, Nola, even when you factor in for population. Laffayette area seems to have a team for every small town plus a bunch from lafayette itself.

they dont. they choose to.

same in louisiana. especially if you say, shouldnt have to leave the state unless its houston.

louisiana, florida, cali, texas and georgia are pretty lucky in that they dont have to leave.

especially with the 2d select series....its a great thing.

the teams that travel like you mentioned, choose as a team to. they dont do it because they need the competition, they do it because they are making a vacation out of it. same as the teams that go to Omaha, East Cobb, Cooperstown, Pigeon Forge, Branson, and the beach trips. They are choosing to make a vacation out of it and make memories.

i get thats not some of yalls deal, some kids love that shite and some parents like doing what their kids love.

I didn’t realize that it was that competitive to make a high school team, or that lack of participation in travel ball excluded one from making a team. Sounds like a raw deal for the talented kids that come from families unable to afford the lifestyle that comes with travel ball.

Bottom line is HS has tryouts. If your kid kills it then he’ll likely be chosen. I’ve seen it go both ways. Your kid doesn’t need to be a freaking travel ball guru since age 7 to make a HS team. That’s a fact. Ascension parish schools are blatantly different. Being a legacy or political figure’s son/grandson/nephew is an absolute must.

Some of you are making it sound like playing HS ball is some impossible pipe dream. Both of my kids played HS ball and I never spent a dime on this travel ball bs. HS was 6 and 8 yrs ago for them. Can’t see how it could’ve changed that much. If you’re big into travel ball. Good for you. But it is 100% NOT a pre-requisite to play HS sports.

The root cause for the creation of 90% of travel ball teams lies within this post.
