But pretending that people who will mutilate their genitalia to become a different sex won't frequently have other major issues is obviously going to have negative consequences for society at large
Dressing in drag in your spare time is one thing. Transgenderism should be viewed very, very differently from a societal perspective.
It's this attitude right here that explains why we take our children to drag queen story time!

How do you know that person wasn't qualified?
Because they have a mental disease that is no longer classified as such ONLY BECAUSE of politics and not science.

We're through the looking glass at this point
People are attacking conservative publications for speaking ill of a mom who let her 9 year old do drag shows at gay bars. A major political party candidate said we need to stop focusing on abortion rights as a women's issue and thing about the impact on men in the trans community.
Thankfully it's still only a sliver of the country who thinks this shite is normal, but in time more and more people are going to go "fine whatever, I call him/her/xe whatever they want."

Wow. In the other thread, I thought "she" looked like Crispin Glover. Now I have to change my answer.

These people need to be in jail not in our bathrooms

I see myself going back and forth on this. If it's a mental illness and the treatment is given and no other symptoms are showing, then it's no different in theory than say depression.
Someone severely depressed and suicidal could be a huge threat to whatever company they work for, but if treated, it's completely fine.
Obviously depression doesn't mean you need a different bathroom or anything like that which society is called on to provide, but it is still similar there.
I feel there's a middle ground with trans people, but it isn't shoving it down everyone's throats as something normal and it isn't banning them from jobs like this one had.

Exactly. It’s like I said on page one in reply to him asking how OP knew he wasn’t qualified.

If someone came into your office looking for a job and they listed their name as Wilhelm II and past occupation as Kaiser of the German Empire, would you hire them?
So why would I hire a man who claims to be a woman when I wouldn’t hire a man who thinks he’s the Emperor of the German Empire?

It's going to eventually destroy itself as an inevitability. Unfortunately, we're not close to the tipping point yet.

I think the major distinction is that there is social/media/political uniformity on other mental illness - "we don't want to ostracize you, we want to help you get treatment you need."
Meanwhile, with transgenderism, it's completely "you're bold and brave and everyone who questions what you're doing is a bigot." There is no treatment, only emphasis and celebration of the disorder.

It's the exact same thing as disorders like anorexia. We treat one as a mental condition and the other as a heroic social statement.

What’s the treatment?
I’m not 100% sure on this so don’t quote me, but don’t trans people typically have a litany of other various mental problems along the lines of depression or bipolar disorder or manic?

I can feel a little sorry for the ones who are so messed up they commit to full change
I have no sympathy for the new fad of "identifying as" and pretending they're special. They're weak

That's what I'm getting at.
It would be nice to be at a point where society says "look, you're mentally ill, and if this is the treatment that works and you're a guy who becomes a girl, then okay. It's weird to us, we aren't going to change our bathrooms for it, but at least you can return to being a productive member of society."
When it's to the point where parents are providing hormone treatments for 11 year old kids, the outlook needs to change.

It's completely circular. When they're pre-op or whatever, their issues arise from not being fulfilled because they're still living life as the wrong sex. Post-op, the issues are because society won't treat them like whatever they're masquerading as.
Meanwhile, we live in a world where saying trans people are "masquerading" as the opposite sex could legitimately get you fired. I mean...what the frick is going on?

well if everyone treated it like a disorder like anorexia, we might get somewhere
but we have one side treating it like a "heroic social statement" and then other side wanting to completely ostracize them from society
