Insurance company took over my policy after the previous one left La after Ida. Came out and took pics and got a notice that I had to remove trampoline or be dropped.

They want me to provide a picture proving it's been removed. How likely are they to actually come back out and check if it's been moved or not? Good idea or not? I have another company I can go with, but will be paying about $400 more

They’ll probably just remove liability on your policy.
Get rid of the trampoline.

my wife is not having it. I'm not winning that argument. I'd rather pay the extra 400 than listen to her complain about getting rid of it.

Most, if not all, insurance companies will have you remove a trampoline. Especially now since so many companies have left and the companies can dictate their own terms. Also, whoever this new company is will have the same terms once they come out to inspect the property

Cover the trampoline up with some leaves and sticks.

Your photo showing no trampoline in your yard would suffice BUT problem is it’s then gonna be on record that you’re telling them no trampoline. If you have a claim in the future related to the trampoline, they will drop you AND not cover it, leaving you up shite creek without a paddle. If you have a claim unrelated to the trampoline in the future and they come out then notice a trampoline, you get dropped.

Before you easily brush off a future claim with the trampoline, consider the following. Anytime a kid goes to the ER for an injury, your medical insurance company will ask the parent to give some info. They’ll ask if it was related to some sort of accident and where the injury took place. 99% of people out there don’t realize this is to rule out third party liability and won’t think twice about giving the truth - because what could it hurt, right? Well as soon your kid’s friend (or even a cousin) breaks a bone playing on your trampoline, that parent is gonna get the questionnaire related to the claim. They say it happened at someone else’s property and their health insurance company will then file a claim with that property owner’s homeowners insurance policy. That’s when your company finds out you have a trampoline.

Downvote all y’all want, this is the truth.

Move the trampoline.
Take a pic
Send it in.
Put trampoline back
Repeat process if you ever have to file a claim.

Unless you want to try and pay out of pocket when one of the neighbor's kids breaks their neck on your trampoline, get rid of it or find another carrier who allows it.

This advice sounds hysterical but people can and do get fricked up on trampolines on the regular. You need coverage.

Everybody is your friendly neighbor until they are standing there with a medical bill worth a few $k.

Not necessarily, some companies will cancel for a trampoline, some will mere exclude liability coverage for it

If they are asking you to remove it they are the cancelling type.

Companies will occasionally do re-inspections, especially when they are feeling pinched and looking to reduce their exposure. Tons of re-inspections were done post Ida for example
