My dad just sent me this (he didn't take the pic)--too close for comfort! This is right by the Fairway drive on ramp at 190 North. So right by CCC, Riverwood, River Oaks, etc.

I know you're being intentionally obtuse, but NOLA Metro isn't a location where people are experienced with them. And since you brought up tornado alley, the type of storm that produces a tornado in the midwest is entirely different than those spawned from storms in the Gulf Coast.

That Akers tornado was massive. At least EF3. If it goes 2 miles north it wipes out Ponchatoula

I agree with you to a degree. When rmldgjbsas posted about thanking god the 2nd tornado didn't touch down in east NOLA, I shook my head. That's like thanking god I didn't get 5 feet of water instead of 4 in my house during the flood.

You realize sunshine is actually a bad thing in a tornado situation? It typically strengthens the tornado by adding to the instability in the air.

Hell people in NOLA don't even know East and West.

Speaking of it, between it and the wind the concrete is dry Uptown already by me at least.

Tornadoes like we had today don't happen here. They just don't. Our thinking that made today different was the westerly component in our winds, compared to our usual southerly winds, allowing the storms to avoid the cooler Gulf air.

Who are you associated with?

The Northshore Tornado that went thru Killian and South of Ponchy destroyed a former coworkers barns and a rent house. Renters were inside when house got picked up and thrown.

No. But I do my best to try to inform people about dangers like this. I just repeat and relay stuff from news sources.

I've noticed for a while how bad early warning is for tornadoes so that's all to it.
