Is it the trough/LLJ ejecting out of Mexico what will force the storms to fire ahead of the main trough?

Yes, theres a little shortwave rounding the main trough. Was hoping a couple of days ago it might phase in earlier and give me more snow.

Gives some lift early, storms can mature a little and then the strong shear hits. It also helps bring that warm air north, and leaves the warm sector in some light lift all day that is helping goose the CAPE a little at the surface.

You know before the blast of cold air aloft gets it really cranking.

Sidebar: witnessing some powerful cold air advection right now. Dropping a degree every ten minutes, and it was about 20 when the cold pop first hit. Down to 16 down, light snow falling, and temp continuing to fall all afternoon.

Negative teens in the wind chill tonight, fine night to track storms inside from a distance.

I prefer discrete supercells. When they air my business to the public it really pisses me off

Storms love to travel up that highway toward LR through Benton.

I was born in Cabot, Ar I remember as a kid in 1st grade watching a big F3 or 4 that tore through LR hit the outskirts of town

It was the January 21st 1999 outbreak. Very similar winter setup as this one in the same general area

ETA 2 the radar that day in 1999

That watch is 3/4 of a county north of me. I wonder if it’ll expand southward later or stay to the north

ETA I’m about where the first E in the word Greenville is

Yup.

No PDS? Shocker. Maybe later.

The strong tornado probs are just too low for PDS, needs to be 80%.

Storm South of New Albany, MS is working on getting going.

And the storms that worked through Little Rock have alot of lightning now with some embedded rotation.
