This is unreal. We've previously only had this kind of setup before, heralding an extensive tornado outbreak, during the spring.
This is so patently false and stupid you need to edit or reply.

I hope local stations did so that folks could get out of its path
Local stations are bound by their FCC licenses... if there's a significant weather advisory (like tornado warning) in its DMA they MUST be on air giving warnings
Even if the warning is in the most rural of rural areas of the media market during the middle of a football game... which causes them to get angry phone calls
They must be on air providing updates in order to not risk losing their broadcast license

Hell yeah... Beautiful up there, property is in Whittier

I like Whittier a lot. Great location that’s just far enough away from everything. I’m the other way more towards Nantahala.

To the people downvoting, please provide evidence or proof that a winter tornado outbreak is unheralded or even rare, we averege one every other year. Yes including violent long track tornados.

How bout yall start a different thread to argue....

Homes slabbed and these scenes around Mayfield.

This will likely rival 1974 for us in terms of damage. Mayfield, Kentucky is just gone. Bowling Green and Campbellsville took huge hits.
Have a teacher friend in Mayfield who packed up and went to stay in Paducah for the night when she saw where things were headed. Probably saved her life.

Some here may remember the deadly EF-4 tornado that hit just south of Tuscaloosa on December 16, 2000.
The first of 2 tornadoes that hit me. Around a dozen people died in that tornado

Radar grab I got as the tornado went through Mayfield, KY.

Don't worry, unfortunately Biden will use these tragic deaths for pushing his Climate change agenda.
What's needed is for scores of volunteers to go help.
Amazing the work that will need to be done.

Mayfield #KYwx is utterly devastated. Homes leveled - the water tower crumbled - insane amounts of damage.

Fox weather is all I watch now. They’ve been covering it since the start.
Posted on 12/11/21 at 8:25 am to Bobby OG Johnson
It is likely the death toll will rise there. Just terrible that with all of our advancements in technology, there still really isn’t much that can be done to give enough warning before a tornado.

Guys the damage is surreal here. It looks like Tuscaloosa or Joplin. South 9th St is gone. Post office, restaurants, body shops, stores, etc. National Guard on the way. Beshear has declared a state of emergency. This is the worst nightmare.
Everyone news wise is here. Storm chasers, Weather Channel, Fox News.

Sadly, local news stations had been reporting the potential severity of this for a couple of days. As I said earlier, when they started showing that it was going to really hit Mayfield I had a friend on her own accord leave for Paducah.
There was no reason for that candle factory to not call off shifts overnight knowing what was coming. Or stop production and seek shelter.
