Are they being denied college admission now?

Like I said...I will not turn my back on my roots.

My roots were very firm in the ground when I was in high school, just not on the ACT part.

Stop it. Silly!

This will weed the nonballers out of the Greek system, too. Discretionary income will get a lot tighter for most undergrads.

know some graduate schools have a formula that takes into account GPA and GRE score (something like GPA x 200 + GRE= 1700), maybe they could use something similar to that?

That sounds better.

And you know that the TOPS is going to not just have ACT, and a lot of this is speculation-based reaction...

They might not have it right away, but it will still have GPA as part of it.

It has to be.

Oh, I think I get it. You're smarter than your test scores, you just can't prove it

Why is it so hard to believe that someone may be smarter than their test scores? You don't get Ph.Ds in science and engineering fields if you are an idiot.

28 is pretty easy

Dam guess I was stupid. Didn't even come close. Glad I graduated college in 08. Would of still went just would of been a bigger struggle financially. And probably would not have come out of school debt free.

I mean if only 1% of black students will qualify in a state that is about 1/3 black there is no way this new requirement can stand.

You know, it sounds like you are saying that black students as a whole aren't smart enough for higher standards and can't achieve at the level of their peers.

I'd never sign off on a notion like that. I believe in equality.

Should we lower the height requirement for basketball scholarships when it comes to Asian players?

I agree with this, but it won't last. The race distribution is too skewed.

Agreed.

Most of the people that post on TD never sniffed a 28, but a lot of 'em have degrees.

The present 2.5 is ridiculously low, though.

Pretty ridiculous. Not going to throw out my own credentials but that's absurd. Needs to be a high gpa like 3.5 or 6 with 25/26. 28 is crazy.

This is all assuming this is for the lowest portion of tops. Not the full.

Graduated with a 4.14 (top 10 in class) got a 22 on the ACT. I guess that's what a public school education in EBRP gets you.

I figured you would be higher. You kind of throw around your academia self around here quite often.

PJ probably got a 22

He doesn't come across as douchey about it, IMO.

How many kids scoring 28s have GPAs under 3.0's?

My lazy arse kid has a 2.75 and scored a 34 but he's picking it up now. He just screwed around too much in 9th and 10th grade.

I don't understand why it can't be said. It is universally accepted that blacks are in general better athletes. No one gets their panties in a bunch about it. That's just the way it is.

When it comes to intelligence. Whites and Asians are better than black in general.
Doesn't mean there aren't Pete Maravich and Dirks out there when it comes to intelligence for African Americans. We don't lower standards to allow more Asians or whites in the nfl or Nba. Just like we shouldn't have low minimum act and gpa standards for stuff like TOPS.
