petty crime is definitely everywhere. in my neighborhood (texas) kids drive the neighborhoods every weekend checking for open car doors. if left unlocked, they'll ransack the car. They don't break windows since there are still enough fools in the area that don't lock up. i guess that's a good thing..

We need some vigilante justice

This has been going on for awhile in uptown. When I lived at my parents home, in high school, I had my car cleaned out two or three times. I caught a guy in the back yard and chased him out..There was a van driving around waiting for him. I called the cops and they never showed up. I could see the guy running in the next block.

Ive had this happen four times in NOLA. Once in kenner and twice in BR. sucks because every single damn time the window cost more to fix than what was stolen.

Jefferson Parish is the only place I've ever lived where the cops gave a shite about this.

Clearly Uptown residents should have installed brightly colored Post-It Notes on their car windows. Those Post-It Notes need to have all Vehicle contents Inventoried and marked with water proof Sharpee. All Vehicles absolutely have to be left unlocked and any alarms disengaged. If the weather is nice then windows, sunroofs and convertible tops left open for easy access.
These fine young gentlemen are having difficulty using their time efficiently between Study Hall and Choir Practice and Uptown Residents NEED to assist them in EVERYWAY.

It’s gotten really bad within the past year or so. The window smashing and petty vehicle crimes have increased over 60% in the past year.
But Fighting Tigers will tell you “Progress” since streets in Lakeview are getting fixed and murders are down but shootings are up.

Post-It Notes
That reminds when I was in New York in the mid 80's. I saw a car with a note on the glass stating "Please don't break glass there is nothing in the car". The glove compartment and console were open to show..Shortly after that I was told "frick you white MF" by some kids from a barred window. Welcome to New York...

They got me a couple months ago.
First they tried my front drivers side window but since it’s tempered it only cracked so they got my back drivers side window, jumped through the window, didn’t even open the door, my truck has a motion detector alarm so it went off and I heard it and ran outside and scared him off. I caught the whole thing on my security cameras and RING Doorbell.
The fricked up thing, they didn’t steal anything but I had to replace 2 side windows.

What is New Orleans coming to? They’re breaking car windows now? They’ll be killing people before you know it.

What sucks is.
In kenner your window gets smashed they send out crime scene. In Baton Rouge they at least file a report.
In NOLA they don't even come to you for broken windows.
I made the mistake of parking in the Saints free parking for a Hornets game once and came back to a lot full of broken windows and they broke my dash trying ti get my radio out. After waiting three hours I gave up on police.
In NOLA it's like this is expected in other places it's a crime and treated as such. The reason why criminals are so brazen here is because they know it's a slim chance of getting in trouble.

The criminals are getting minors to do the dirty work for them because if they are minors there are NO CONSEQUENCES in New Orleans or most big cities for crimes. NOPD does nothing. It's only going to get worse.
Liberal run cities(which is most big cities) have completely done away with any consequences for what they consider petty crimes such as shoplifting or car break ins. Check out places like San Fran & L.A. I lived in Lakeview & Uptown for a decade & never once had my vehicle broken into somehow. Good luck getting the fabulous mayor & NOPD to do anything. Elections have consequences. You are seeing the consequences of these elections.
