Based on their tactical competence, ability to lead and inspire troops and other subordinates, and track record of success.
How would you rank them?

Lincoln was pretty hands off and Stalin and Hilter were both disastrous when they got involved in the military

I guess I misunderstood. We are strictly talking military leaders and not leaders of nations.
Ill revise my list to Napoleon, Nimitz, Patton, Rommel, Zhukov

Led an invasion which defeated a top 5 army in a few days while only losing a handful of men.
Pretty impressive if you ask me.

To be honest, I had planned on copying your rankings and just switching numbers three and four. You let me down.

Your laughter doesn't make much sense. The only real issue with his Desert Storm plan was it worked too well. We were so far ahead of schedule during the ground portion it was ridiculous. The only "mistake" was not chasing down every last member of the Republican Guard on Hwy 80 but that was a political and optical choice, not a military one.

Stalin. He was all of this. Was an evil person but he sure did fire up his troops for battle against the Germans. I guess only an evil person can be like this. Stalin did not mind the death of his own people.

Fight or I’ll have you shot/starve to death is pretty good motivation

Throwing hundreds of thousands at a buzzsaw is not a top military leader. The USSR survived solely through US War supplies and rations. The Germans fricked up many times through their campaign but the Russians weren't bailed out until winter
