I mentioned the other day the Terry Funk and Jerry Lawler feud in Mid-South. That one lasted years, and was one of the biggest draws in any of the territories at the time. Lawler meant so much to Mid-South that when he broke his leg playing flag football and was put on the shelf for a year, it nearly sank the promotion.

nWo vs Sting
Great build...horrid ending.

The very beginning of the NWO was amazing. It instantly made everyone in WCW faces. And Fall Brawl 1996 was amazing. Sting, Luger, Flair and Arn may have been the best 4-man team in War Games history. But yeah, the booking for WCW ruined what was probably the best angle in wrestling history.

I get that but when the destination kills the career of a man that was the face of WCW for damn near a decade....it matters.

I've seen every single match of the trio multiple times. They were great matches with great work but the trio doesn't touch Flair/Steamboat...hell there isn't one of the 3 better than Savage/Steamboat. We won't even bring up the HBK/Hart Ironman match.
The other issue I have with bringing it up is that those 3 matches didn't make as much money or have as many eyeballs on it as any of the other single matches that have been listed....that matters in wrasslin. But yea Meltzer gave them all 6 stars because they were in the Tokyo Dome so that's something.

horseman vs nwo. not a liver spot, not a dog spot, but my spot....

NJPW sucks and only caters to weaboos and japanophiles.
No one is more overrated than Omega. He is a pedo first, and second AEW stans act like his is the greatest wrestler in the world, and I disagree with that. Nothing special about him.

quote:The first bit is very fair, arguing it as an all time feud is probably out of line but they really were the best work of wrestling I've ever seen. And your snide quip about Meltzer definitely gives away your bias, only one of the trio was in the Tokyo Dome and the best one was in Osaka. Hell my second favorite of theirs wasn't even one of the trio, it was the G1 match in Ryogoku.

Yea that was classic Nash....if Nash would have just been happy being the NWO enforcer that could talk he would have been better off probably.

Guilty as charged I'm biased against Meltzer....it's only happened in the internet era. Back when he actually had a subscription newsletter that was fairly exclusive he actually made more efforts to not necessarily be right but be entertain and supplement the business.
In the last 15 years he has thought of himself as so much smarter than the bookers it is ridiculous.
I don't have a problem with NJPW....NJPW has had incredible matches over the year and I think that guys like Okada, Naito, Ibushi, and Tanahasi will be doing themselves a disservice if they don't spend some time in the US soon in WWE or AEW to let themselves and their talents be seen. It's why I can't believe Tony Kahn can't come to some kind of talent sharing agreement with NJPW...and who knows post-COVID maybe it happens....or maybe Vince smartens up and swoopes in and makes it happen with NJPW. it wouldn't be the first time he's worked with NJPW brass.
Yes I realize the guys I mentioned have done some time with Impact/TNA and other indies, but not on the WWE or AEW level.
