Quality of life. Its not perfect and has its own brand of bullshite to deal with but I'm happier here than I was in Louisiana.

Seasons. I hated the year-round heat and its awesome up here. Fall weather in September instead of late November.

Money. I'm making more of it here.

Great for outdoors (ocean, rivers, wildlife, fishing, hiking, etc).
Very few people (nearest stop light is 8 miles).
I can work from anywhere.

I moved to the delta 43 years ago for the job with intent of going back home to the hills.

What kept me here was

Great people

Family

And cost of living, all I have is paid for.

I can travel and use this as home base.

Shitholes aren't all bad.

Why: Military told me to.

Why i'm Staying when i retire next year:

1. The Great Outdoors (Mountains, National Parks, Hunting, Fishing, Wildlife "I have Bald Eagles in my back yard"..etc) too much to list

2. Summers are great 18 hours of daylight rarely above 90. Winters suck though.

3. Screw packing up and moving again!

Great little city. I spent 5-6 months there throughout 1995-1997 or so.

Close enough to Nashville for the fun but far enough away from the liberal hippies.

Beautiful, hilly area

Relatively cheap land

Close to Center Hill.

Railroad district wants to be little Seattle with all homeless and liberal Western Washington kids. But you get out of that area or over into the county and its a pretty great place. And WA people in general are standoffish, so even if they are wack jobs, they don't speak to you or bother you.

Yep. You don't have to go far to feel alone with nature.

I highly value those kinds of experiences, which is why I live here.

He should have said southern California. There's a lot of outdoor stuff to like about it. Not just the beach.

I think Alaska is beautiful. Never been, but absolutely intend to go.

But it’s odd how often you feel the need to share photos. It’s like you’re trying to prove something that no one is questioning.

1. The house is paid off.
2. The weather is better than most places.
3. We've been here since 1988 and have made some great friends.

I'll be 66 in August (full retirement age) and I'm planning go semi-retired. Then we'll get a travel trailer and go visit the kids, family and old friends.
