Juge. That’s one hell of a fight. You’re bad arse bro. Yesterday evening about 7:00 I went for a walk. Walked 3 blocks I felt pretty good but my body kinda felt like I was jello. But I’m gonna do the same in the morning

Haha jellos good man. No need to be a hero out there. Just circulate that blood. Feel how good it feels to move through you.

We're all badass when we need to be. It's badass that you admitted a problem and are addressing it.

That's bad arse

For someone in recovery, why would you tell another person to not go to meetings in early recovery? You can’t just say that you aren’t big on meetings and that they work great for others?

I have detoxed off of OxyContin before. It took about a month before I really felt normal again. It’s a terrible thing to go through that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

I did it in a rehab. Not to say it can’t be done the way you are trying but it’s much harder. Addiction to pain killers is something stronger than anyone can imagine. And it’s bigger than the person. Idk if your spiritual but if you are serious about getting off and staying off I would suggest finding something you believe in.

My addiction brought me places an upper middle class white boy should have never went. But it has also brought me back to God and it’s been nearly 5 years since I’ve touched it.

Godspeed. I will be praying for you.

ETA: if I were to lend you any advice it would be this. Go to treatment. Or at the very least a detox facility for a week. You would be making it so much easier on yourself and may be able to form a network of people to stay clean when you get out

Because you don’t have to go to a meeting to stay clean. Period. It’s all on you. I personally didn’t have to have them all the time like some people say. I catch a meeting every blue moon. But I didn’t have to go hear the same thing over and over everyday. I’ll go every once in awhile to see people I used to sponsor etc. To check up on them.

she straight shite on 12 steps but was involved enough to check on people she helped get sober through the 12 step program. Classic

I warn you that the mental cravings will be at their worst when you go back to work. It will bring anxiety out of you. It's much easier to stay sober when you are in the comforts of your home. When you go to a stressful environment you will get bad cravings.

Yeah, I mean detox sucks but it’s not the hardest part. You are still going to crave drugs in the beginning. In fact there will be days you obsess over it. Those are the facts. So I’d suggest doing some 12 step work so you can have a defense against using. I don’t know what area you are in, but I’d love to take you to a meeting or out to coffee, whatever I can do to help.

I’m about 15 min from NOLA. I wouldn’t mind that at all. I just want to stay clean. No matter what I have to do.

First day back at work and it’s different already. I would’ve already taken 2 doses of pills by now. Waiting on my 3rd. But I can tell y’all this much. I’m super glad I’m not taking them anymore. I wanted this more than I wanted anything else. I prayed for months for God to help me quit. And he gave me the want. I just woke up one day and told my wife I had enough it’s time. There’s no looking back.

I know I have a long road a head of me but trust me I’m hungry for sobriety. There’s so much more I can be doing than buying these pills.

You're on what they call the pink cloud in the first week or two of sobriety. It's great and everything seems like its going to be A OK but harder times are in the future with cravings, the obsession, the I can't think of anything other than pills or drinking, ect. At least that's been my experience I'm not trying to be Debbie downer here. It's crazy ups and downs especially in the first month or few months. Hang on

You were sick and tired, of being sick and tired.

You can quote me on that one (those in AA will get the humor).

We all say it. We all mean it. You were done. Your body was done.

There is still a steep hill ahead of you, but you have the right shoes on to climb it.

Now get the backpack and supplies. Feel free to email whenever you need to. -k

Stay strong.

Maybe your thread will encourage others that are struggling with addiction to face their demons too.

Brother, since you said you prayed to God for the strength to do this and He delivered for you, listen to this song, especially when you are feeling weak. It will help you focus on Him and the strength you have through Him to get over your hurdles.

You Say (Lyric video) - Lauren Daigle

Good for you! Wishing you the best of luck

It's threads like these that shoe the OT isn't always about being rich, awesome, and a huge smart arse. When someone is doing something really difficult/life changing it typically pulls an entire group of support. Look at all the people that offered to help. This was a good start to Monday, even though the thread started last week.
