Marijuana doesn't do shite for detoxing, if anything it makes the anxiety and brain zaps worse. Replacing something that changes the way you feel with another substance that changes the way you feel isn't good advice FWIW

This was my thinking. But everyone is suggesting it. I’m just keeping my eye on the prize.. just trying to push through

I just dealt with the pain man the best I could. I had family help too. I had a huge support system. I let them down many times. But my mom stuck by me and for that I will be forever grateful. I was hell bent on stopping. You couldn’t pay me a million dollars to take a pill then. Here’s what you need to do. Call an addiction doctor that can prescribe suboxone. But tell him you don’t want it maintenance. You want in and out. You can come off the opiates with the help of subs but don’t take them over like 3 months. Two or so strips a day should help you a lot cause the half life of subs are like 96 hours. But if you do keep on taking the subs then all bets are off because subs are hard to get off of as well. Then you are in the same boat again. I’m rooting for you buddy. Keep me updated.

Weed already gives me anxiety sometimes. I can’t imagine throwing more anxiety on top of the anxiety that comes with detoxing. F that

I heard horror stories about This dr trying to get you hooked on the subs. That’s what I’m scared about. And there is no way I can talk a whole sub a day. I took a little piece before and it knocked me the frick out.

For coming off 8-10 pills a day? That's horrible advice IMO

I’m in the middle of a jam packed work day and still find myself checking in with this thread to see how homeboy is doing. Good luck and keep going West

I think its as much a mental game as anything, and the minute you allow yourself to trade one high for another you lost the mental game, addicted or not. I think youre making the right call there. Keep at it, you got this!

Have you ever been addicted to opiates? If not then run along. I’m only talking short term here. To get him over the physical aspect of the addiction. If you have never been where we have then don’t speak up. Just move along. I’m only trying to help this guy out not get addicted to another substance. It’s why I said not to take it more than three months.

To the guy asking what he should drink. IMO, it should be electrolytes, something that can put nutritional value in his body. Always keep hydrated. Now food is another question. He isn’t going to feel like eating. Anything really. Just don’t put a lot of junk. When I quit I craved sugar. Cereal, candy etc. but that’s just me. Everyone is different.

No worries my man. I was not offended in any way shape or form. I left a lot out. It's all good. We are all here to support our fellow poster in his fight to overcome his addiction.

I've been in and out of treatment centers for years with too many detox's mixed in to even count. Still have the opinion that telling someone a few days into a detox to get prescribed subs but to not take them longer than three months is shite advice.

Not sure why having to qualify in order to have an opinion on the subject has to do with anything though...

Please explain why it’s horrible advice then? It’s how I quit. It’s how countless number of my friends quit.

Yea it’s a pretty shite idea to tell a pill addict to go get a different pill to be addicted to

Yeah, my alcoholic advice is to detox in a facility.

I saw a few guys get put on valium to help detox.

My wife, who does this professionally everyday, refuses to prescribe anything other than otc stuff.

Different opinions, i guess. In my relapses, which were severe, i treated myself with lower and lower doses. I highly do not recommend that. I should be dead.

Man let’s get along. I need everyone’s opinion

And HoOkem method is how my 2 buddies quit. I’m just trying to do it cold turkey. I want the pain to be a reminder not to ever take these pills again.

I’ve heard people say kratom(sp?) helps ease withdrawal symptoms. Anyone have experience with it?

I read about Kratom but also read that some people say it’s just a masking agent. But a lot of folks say it helped for them..

Withdrawals are really kicking in now. Cold and hot sweats. Skin crawling ANXIETY like a mother fricker. Agitation level is high. I’m really thinking about taking that Valium to see if that helps some
