How does this do anything other than make tax payers on the hook for a incentives that do nothing to solve the problem?

Taxpayers are on the hook for any traffic solution so not sure what your point is. Roads and Infrastructure are extremely expensive and take forever to build and always go over budget and over time.

So why go that route?

That sounds like an over-sweeping generalization.

Why light money on fire? In essence, that's what your plan does.

quote:

It takes too long to build. Population grows plus anytime something is improved (supply) demand increases.

You're ignoring that if the demand increases in one area, it decreases from others.

quote:

I am not saying I have all the answers but to say building loops and roads will save us is silly. We are too far behind at this point. Those things should have been done years ago when population was not growing so fast.

I just don't think it'll help nearly as much as people think and the construction will lead to worse traffic for years until they're done.

We need a more longterm solution IMO.

Those two statements contradict each other Removing that bottleneck is a long term solution, one that is desperately needed.

Yeah, you are sound so smart yourself. Look at the data. More interstate doesn't improve traffic. It makes it miserable during construction and after hasn't improved anything because more people are using it.

I don't think it will remove the bottleneck.

You will never not have bottlenecks, but that area would be so much better with one or two more lanes. It's really not debatable.

I am confused. You attempted to insult me. I am trying to have a meaningful discussion but you resorted to taking it personally.

I asked you a question. It wasn't an insult.

Saying your plan would light money on fire isn't a personal insult.

There are community meetings with the firms doing the study for a another bridge this week. Maybe yall should go to them and get answers instead of just bitching on the internet.

Exactly why I started this thread.

The morning paper says there is little enthusiasm for widening I-10. I think the responses here on this thread show otherwise.

And thanks for posting about the public meetings. Hopefully some of will make it. I'm planning on it myself.

The issue is that Washington exit is politically untouchable. Widening needs to happen, but it needs to be there.

You are clearly someone who is hard to deal with. Whoever you are married to never leave them. If you are not married to anyone there is a reason.

That isn't an insult right?

So instead of whining and bitching about a huge infrastructure frick-up, let's all be adults and get in the correct lane well before arriving to it since we all are aware of the situation.

People do that now beginning in Port Allen.

Regardless of how many lanes are added, the bridge is still what it is.

The bridge has 6 lanes. It is not the problem.

All adding extra lanes would do is move the bottlenecks

Not all parts of the interstate handle the same amount of daily traffic. It actually varies by tens of thousands of vehicles per day from the bridge out to Ascension or Denham.

With all due respect, you don't understand what you are talking about.

The amount of cars backed up waiting to cross the bridge in the afternoon are insane. It backs up for miles...
