You actually do more than that because while it appears you can get 54 days a year of good time due to things like vested day and accrual dates it is more like 47 days per year of good time.
BOP does some crazy and creative math. It drives federal inmates absolutely nuts when they try to understand why they aren't getting the amount of good time they expect.
