My only daughter is now 22 and entering med. school next month. She's dating a guy I really like a lot who treats her well. I remember vividly years ago having the moment you just experienced. My throat tightens a bit every time I hear the songs, "I Loved Her First" and "My Little Girl".

Be kind and she will marry someone kind, right? That’s all I got.

Don't worry. She turns 18 and the rest of us become her daddy.

Having a daughter is one of the best gifts life has to offer.
I read a lot of awful advice on here and a lot of stupid outlooks like "glad I don't have one" (which I never understood this ridiculous sentiment. You still have to parent a male, dumbasses).
Having a daughter will give you a different perspective that you will never and can never understand if you don't have one.
It can be frustrating at times simply because we're not used to seeing circumstances through all that emotion, but them having a strong, wonderful mom helps with that. Mine are adults now and I couldn't be more proud.
Cheers to you, OP. Enjoy it. It's a wonderful ride.

Wait till wife and her synch up. You’ll be ready to kill your entire family.

Mine is 7 and I love her dearly. Unfortunately, she’s growing up a lot faster than she should be (thanks ex-MrsBears). In some ways she’s 7 going on 17 or 27.

I have twin 4 year old girls, and I’m in no hurry for them to grow up.

My wife says my daughter broke me.

Indeed she did

Likely but until then I'll take solace in those days when we would roll by freshman orientation and yell to the dads dropping their children off.. that their daughters were in good hands

Got a 4 year old daughter myself. 8 year old son, and baby any day. Blew up this magical sprinkler today for her. She annoyed me asking when it would be done about 100 times, but it was nice to see her run around like a special child

I have a 2 year old girl and a new one on the way. I’m dreading their teenage years. The two year old got me wrapped though. Runs to the door everyday when i get home from work. Can’t even put my keys down until I pick her up and get hugs

Just don’t think of them being dicked down by some big dudes in about 15 years.
