I don’t give a frick if people who don’t show up to work, quit.
You’re already not showing up to work.
Get the frick out.

Missing 17 days seems extreme.
Not even exaggerating, I'd wager a third of my students missed 17+ this last year.

Adkins also said during the meeting, “We are going to take control of the attendance of our students. You can bring all the doctor’s notes you want, but it is still unexcused.” Adkins and other district officials said during the meeting that students need to learn reliability and work ethic. “If you have the sniffles, that is fine,” Adkins said during the meeting. “You are going to have them when you go to work one day. We have all gone to work sick and hurt and beat up.”
So we're pretending these assholes didn't force parents to teach their own kids during COVID? I hope someone brings a projectile vomiting kid straight into that limp dicks office.

Here is something to think about. Most schools will not fail a student for FEA, failure for excessive absences.
Now they get to make the seat time up. Basically they come to school on a Saturday and do extra work.

But what if they use their sick days or PTO allotted by the company?
What if a kid catches strep and the flu in the same school year?
The world isn’t black and white bud, take your extremist shite and get the frick out

It’s pretty obvious who hasn’t signed the front of a check post-Covid.
I’m sorry, but if you aren’t being seen by a specialist at Emory or Vanderbilt or something, you aren’t sick every 3 weeks and need 2-3 days off.
You’re just a slob, and that’s what’s happening. Urgent cares are perfectly fine giving excuses because you’re paying the copay, and they don’t give a frick about the “integrity” of their excuses because there’s no accountability.

Take your eto, parasite. Don’t call out the day of a holiday and go get a doctors note to avoid corrective action.
That’s what’s happening.

frick that.
My son misses a good 15+ days of school per year due to illnesses and the occasional injury. He’s scored in the 99th percentile on every standardized assessment, thrives in the classroom, and has been recognized for his character. But I guess he’ll fail and we’ll go to see the judge because the school wants better attendance numbers (money).

Often times companies take advantage of laborers and discard/lay them off like throwing out the trash.
If there’s a loophole that helps someone spend some Holliday time with family, I have no problem with a worker using it. If the company only requires a doctor’s note to avoid punishment, blame the company.
That would require you to actually think critically, mongoloid

That's crazy.
Not counting weather days and such. Just sick days.
My kid missed 2 or 3 days for sickness.

I know this is a crazy concept, but not all kids are the same as yours. Some get sick more often than others

Of course.
But 17... that's a massive jump.

I’m curious to see if there’s any precedent for this one way or another.

This isn’t some heroic effort to educate kids. It’s to keep funding up based on percent attendance.
I must have missed where they cut back on teacher sick day allowance since they’re so worried about the kid’s education

I had a bout of walking pneumonia my freshman year of high school. Had me out I think 8-9 days total (all excused) until the cough subsided enough to make attending class feasible. Every year after that I was out at minimum 5 guaranteed per semester for some random sickness that set off the cough again. Never could shake it completely. Parents were sticklers about attendance too until I got to my senior year. By that point as long as I had A’s they didn’t care

Parents just need to start recall petitions on those school board members and watch them reverse course. They don't want to lose their elected positions.
