Here’s the thing. If the wreck had happened in June there wouldn’t have been any icebergs in their path therefore the ship wouldn’t have hit one.
The sailing date was delayed by 6 months if I remember correctly, something about the sister ship needed repairs and somehow that delayed the Titanics voyage
Anyway, the delay resulted in icebergs moving further south into the path the ship was planned to take and that wasn’t accounted for. If it had sailed when it was supposed to they wouldn’t have hit the iceberg.

I've done a lot of North Atlantic crossings in the summertime, bleed me when I say, there's a lot of ice floating around up there

What I really want to know, why didn’t the iceberg show up on their gps. Makes you think....

Oh I don’t doubt you. I’m just saying I’ve read different reports saying the path they took was compromised by ice floating south because of the delay. It wouldn’t have been if they would have sailed when they were scheduled to.

There are Iced Classed vessels that have hulls that are specifically built to cut through the ice but not icebergs

If an iceberg is the same temperature on the outside as it is on the inside then it becomes water, just like an ice cube. Imagine if you made a huge ice cube and you core drilled it, it’s insides would be colder than it’s outsides. An iceberg is simply an extension of that.
One could think of it as a thermal capacitor, or a huge cooler pac.
An iceberg is a piece of a glacier which was formed by ancient snow. The weight of years of snow fuses the snow into ice. Gravity has moved it downhill until it was at the edge of ocean and cracked off under it’s own weight. Included along with ice, atmospheric dust, are many tiny air bubbles trapped when the snow fell.
Ice itself is insulating compared to water and with the addition of air bubbles it is even more insulating.
However, it isn’t a perfect insulator. There is heat transport from the outside in. Also Ice/water has a large capacity to hold thermal energy. In addition to make ice transition to water it must absorb the latent heat of fusion, the energy required to break the inter-molecular hydrogen bonds which holds ice together.
Lets make a very simple “model” of an iceberg floating down iceberg alley in summer. If you can idealize the entire glacier as a mass of water, then imagine the average amount of heat (cold if you wish) it has been exposed to over many winters and summers in the high arctic. Now imagine it as an artificial ball or sphere. The outside of it has to the melting point of ice but there is still a fair amount of “cold” in it. It both conducts heat and insulates. Lets consider this artificial sphere like an onion with layers. Each layer is a little different but not that different that the layers both on top and below it. Playing with the math the only way that the outside can be at it’s melting point and it still contain the heat it contains, then the reiterative result is a “thermal gradient” as you move through the layers. What changes with these layers is temperature. If you took core samples you'd find its temperature would drop until you reach the core. Now that’s a very simple model with a lot of simplification and “liberties”. No Iceberg is a ball and heat isn’t being absorbed uniformly in all directions, but it’s a simple explanation.
