What a fricking retarded statement
Its true. Bunch of fat people who have never taken a risk in their lives.
Some people have a drive for high adventure, they're better than we are. Explorers, adventurers..

Interesting and infuriating video. The thing looked like something engineered by Flint Lockwood in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs but they invested in having a”resident indigenous artist”?

It made the dive several times previously. As rinky dink as it was, it did work for a while.
Probably took one too many dives for the structure.
It worked three other times.

And here’s another point of view.
Maybe it really doesn’t matter what this guy thinks and people will continue to live their lives and accept their own risks and that we should just mind our own business. Just because this accident falls into his realm of expertise doesn’t really make it any more of his business.
Few of us here are physicians, but plenty of us snubbed the vax anyway in spite of public encouragement to get it. And there were plenty of people waiting around to say “I told you so” if someone unvaxxed had a life threatening reaction to COVID.
We all make choices with risks and consequences. How about we just mind our own frickin’ business instead of questioning the decisions and lifestyles of others?

Yeah that’s cool and all but I wish we wouldn’t spend thousands of dollars trying to pick up the pieces from you “rah rah don’t tread on me” folks.
You want to go see the titanic in a tin can?
Cool, but don’t expect the Coast guard to come looking for you.

I understand where you’re trying to come from, but this particular case isn’t it lol. These people weren’t launching themselves to Mars in this thing. They were walking into a burning building for thrills with a tank top on, where many others have gone before, with all the information available to them and the means $$ to do so in an insanely less risky way. Then add in the guy taking his son, who apparently didn’t want to go, along. A true explorer, a trailblazer…He might be better than you… not me

Fair enough. Although these people never had an opportunity to ask for help and (if they had) were wealthy enough to pay the bill.
Any other problems with people going on adventures?

Yeah, don’t bring your kid along with you

I'm pretty sure these people understood the risks and agreed with them.
Give me a ride to the Moon on a vessel that has made it 6 previous times, and I would be all over it if I could afford it. I figure if it ends, it happens very quickly.
Posted on 6/24/23 at 11:13 am to RogerTheShrubber
Why the moon? Let’s take a ride to Hawaii on a decommissioned airplane. It’s made it way more than 6 times, but many experts agree it isn’t the safest option. Let’s take your entire family along too. You’re romanticizing exploration on a retarded platform

Stupid analogy.

About 80% of those who have tried it, lived.

I’d take a “decommissioned” airplane to Hawaii, just because it’s been parked doesn’t necessarily mean there’s anything wrong with it
Posted on 6/24/23 at 11:18 am to RogerTheShrubber
Just because it’s parked doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it haha. Fair enough, but I’ll also park option B next to it that’s done it 10x more. Your ticket is free. Choose wisely… or maybe you really are quite the adventurer

I wouldn't take a son regardless of age, just because an accident makes it twice as hard for survivors.
But I get why old rich men do it.

not quite sure what you’re saying there but the desert is full of fine airplanes that the airlines park for various other reasons other than they’re no longer airworthy, less fuel efficient, fleet simplification, etc., they can usually be summoned back into service pretty readily if needed

There’s taking risks and then there’s being dumb……diving down 2 miles on these rickety vans masquerading as submarines is the latter.

Ok you’re missing the point. There were numerous other available options with less risk. Unless the billionaire was on a tight budget and all
Posted on 6/24/23 at 11:27 am to rocksteady
gotcha, it is baffling that they’d go on the cheap for something that risky with that kind of dough
Posted on 6/24/23 at 11:28 am to 777Tiger
Exactly. Although not quite a billionaire yet, mr James Cameron enjoys weekend drives down to the titanic
