Tinnitus and hearing aids

A while back I posted about my tinnitus and how it had gotten worse over the past year or so. I was surprised that I wasn’t the only one and several of you guys were nice enough to make recommendations to your audiologist.
Finally met with one today and she is suggesting hearing aids to raise the frequency of the sound I lose because of the tinnitus. I’m not deaf or anything but I do lose certain sounds
Damn.... the idea of this really sucks. Any of you guys been recommended or started wearing them? Was it worth it? Interested in your thoughts.

I have done Veterans Disability claims since about 2012. I would say 75% of combat vets I see have tinnitus and bilateral hearing loss. Hearing aids today have come a long way. Most of the vets I've represented have a much better quality of life with their hearing aids and rarely, if ever, complain about them.

Have hearing loss and severe tinnitus in one ear. The hearing aid definitely helped the tinnitus. Have to adjust it to see what setting works best for you.

SO has some hearing loss and tinnitus (meningitis as infant) - we checked out hearing aids at a few places last year but ultimately decided to skip it. He's been complaining lately that he feels like it's getting worse so we will likely buy something in the new year.
It definitely seemed to help his tinnitus and he was very interested in the ones that allowed you to switch modes from a smartphone. I tried to reserve my opinion but most of the private places seemed to only sell a few brands and came off as sketchy. Had a great experience at UF Audiology though, so will likely end up there.

If you're in Lafayette or the surrounding area there is a new place called FYZICAL Dizziness & Fall Prevention Center on Jaliste Saloom. They have an ENT, audiologists, and vestibular rehab. I'm sure they could address the issues you are having. Just a thought...hope this helps!

Eh, if I'm in that area I'd go to an established practice, such as ACI Hearing and Balance, over a chain brand like FYZICAL.
