So. I was thinking, maybe a group of people could get together and come up with a pipeline "pig". But one that can dig through and break up trash and send data back on pipe condition.

Seems like the city of NOLA has no idea how to take care if draining. Seems an easy fix would be a pig drone that can burrow through debris.

I think a think tank of our tinkerers, inventors aND others could source something.
I have ideas, but I only ever built flying drones.
I'm thinking part tunneling machine, part pipeline pig, part ROV.

Call T-baw and tell him to bring a 10k coil tubing unit with him.

-Ask LSU ME capstone take this on as a project
-Have students design/prototype for you
-Sell patented unit to city for multi-million dollar profit
-Reinvest multi-millions into design of asteroid natural resource pig/boring/mining/telemetry device
-Make multi-billion dollar profit
-OT Bawler status achieved
-Finally buy camp in Grand Isle & tricked out side-by-side
-Die penniless and destitute due to cheap lap-dances, alimony & concession prices in tiger stadium

Time is a flat circle.

because they allow the S&WB to get paid to do absolutely nothing.

So modify a pipe camera with a drill bit?

Can the type of trash blocking drain pipes be "broken up" or does it have to be actually sucked out?

I actually think the problems with NOLA pipes aren't due to trash in them. Rather, it's the pipes have bent due to subsidence and the only real fix is to straighten them out, which means replacing them.

There's already equipment that can take UT's and clean the pipe. Not just pigs.

Are pipe blockages a big thing in NOLA? Always thought it was just the smaller capacity of the drain lines that were the problem.

The issue isn't a lack of technology, it's a matter of taking care of problems before they become an emergency. The drainage system is like any other infrastructure in that it has to be regularly inspected and maintained and occasionally repaired/replaced/upgraded, and the last few administrations simply have not done that adequately.

I work in storm water for a living. Trust me when I say there are plans in place for new commercial development to offset there impervious footprint.

It’s the existing system that’s the problem.

(Same for Houston btw)

It's the existing lazy, do-nothing pieces of shite that's the problem.

Fixed it.

That pig would make it 10’ before it hit the first break/collapse in a pipe and get stuck. Then everything will be stopped up and it will take them 20 years to get that fixed
