Not at all, Ed. You just happened to be at the end of the thread when I responded. It was not so much a criticism of the cartoon itself nor attacking the paper's right to post such material as it is a general decrial of the lack of civility that has entered the world of journalism . Like I said, it seemed more of an attempt to gain attention by shock than an actual attempt to make a social statement. My only offense is taken at the notion that this was some sort of journalistic gotcha that fell woefully short. Basically akin to some half-arsed comedian thinking that the more f-bombs he throws the funnier he is.

My "hometown" paper owned by Yankees, printed out of state, and tried to print a few days a week. Add super liberal. They throw them free to me occasionally; my dog loves to poop on them. About all they are good for!

I, for one, am not outraged or offended by the cartoon. I could give a shite. I am, however, offended by the retarded business decision of a New Orleans paper running it at this time. I am one of the remaining few who actually still likes holding a newspaper in my hand in the morning and reading it with a cup of coffee. With dwindling readerships, I just hate for a paper to be so stupid. And let's face it, the demographic that may agree with the cartoon are probably not subscribers to the TP.
That said, I don't read the TP, so whatever. I will likely not give this topic another thought 5 seconds after I hit submit.

I suspect that, like ESPN, newspapers are still holding on to the business model of attracting white, suburban women to the exclusion of their core constituency (white males). The NFL seems to be doing the same thing.
Either that, or it is all about agenda pushing, business be damned.
I've been trying to understand ESPN's business model since they went full SJW years ago and there's really no other explanation. The ultra liberal mindset is a pretty small portion of the country made to look large by media outlets.

Oh yeah!! I remember that paper now. I cancelled my subscription when they endorsed Lord Obama during his first presidential campaign, against the majority populus of the state. Have t missed it one bit in the past 8 years. Bye bye paper, hello World Wide Web!!

Do you live in New Orleans?

fricking idiot complaining about a paper he doesn't read. Like I said faux rage.

Literally too fricking stupid to insult. So a business is so out of touch with its core subscribers would post something that would jeopardize their subscriptions? You like most of the bleeding count complaining in the thread admit y'all don't read the TP or even subscribe. It is your demographic that does not subscribe.

Read the TP every morning for decades. Won't read free copies or go to NOLA. They intentionally lost my business.

But no they will rather be unemployed and liberal hacks than keep their jobs and just report the news
This, it's absolutely hilarious. I saw where CNN had less than a million viewers for one of their main shows and saying that the public hates them. Why they would rather have that situation instead of fixing their shittiness is completely beyond me.

Well, I lied about not giving this topic another thought, but I can assure you I have zero rage, fake or otherwise. You, on the other hand...

Ouch, that hurts, I am so outraged!!!!!

Yes, that is my observation. It certainly wouldn't be the first time. I could be wrong. And I'm sure this little thing in and of itself won't do much harm. But little things add up to big things. And in this age of social media and people preferring more and more to get their news in real-time on the internet rather than read yesterday's news in a paper, it just seems newspapers can't afford to be making such egregious errors in judgement. And as someone who enjoys newspapers, I hate to see it happen with any of them, even ones I don't read. Because the health of one affects the health of all.

I'm confused. Wouldn't most "liberal cun+s" relate to the cartoon and agree with its message? You seem to have mistakenly--and confusingly--pegged me as having some political slant. I am coming at this as a consumer, nothing more. And my "complaint" is merely an observation.

Well, you certainly have me there. I'm sure most non-New Orleans residents like myself are not huge subscribers to the city paper.

Instead of placing posed photographs on the front page of their paper perhaps the editors of the Times-Picayune could have helped themselves and their neighbors. That is what the Cajuns in Cameron Parish did after Hurricane Rita. Then again perhaps the Cajuns in Cameron Parish are simply better people.

It's more like calling bullsh*t what it is. Cops kill more white people than black people. So obviously this cartoon is just banking on the stupidity of black people for drinking the kool-aid. And your avatar tells me that you drink a hell of a lot of that kool-aid. It's funny to me that conservative whites who are against abortion are often times called racist when we are against the greatest killer of African American lives by a lot....... Abortion.

I don't depend on shitty media outlets like TP (or CNN) for news anyway. They have an obvious agenda that does not benefit me in any way. It's been that way for years.

That is a disgraceful cartoon at any time. At this specific time, it is absolutely repugnant. The cartoonist and the entities that published this rubbish should be shamed.

The T-P has become (I don't even need to bring up a toilet paper reference) a slide-show click-baiting sham of what they once were just a decade or so ago.
I mean damn...how quickly a paper can go to garbage.

John Oliver did a show on newspapers going to the Internet 2 weeks ago. They've slashed staff and are basically going for click bait content. Looks like the TP is right there with that business model.
