ChapGPT seems to think he will have to sell Horseshoe in Lake Charles due to state regulations if the deal goes through
quote:
Horseshoe Lake Charles - A Caesars Rewards Destination is already a Caesars property in the exact same Lake Charles market where Fertitta owns Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel & Casino.
So if Fertitta acquires Caesars, he’d directly control:
Golden Nugget Lake Charles
Horseshoe Lake Charles
and potentially have influence over a huge chunk of the southwest Louisiana casino market.
That’s much more likely to draw scrutiny than Shreveport/Bossier alone because Lake Charles is a heavily concentrated regional gaming market already dominated by a few mega-resorts:
Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel & Casino
L'Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles
Horseshoe Lake Charles - A Caesars Rewards Destination
plus nearby tribal competitor Coushatta Casino Resort.
Regulators would likely ask:
Does one owner control too much of the Houston feeder market?
Would competition weaken?
Could room pricing, sportsbook operations, or player rewards become too consolidated?
If divestitures happen in Louisiana, Horseshoe Lake Charles is one of the most obvious candidates analysts would point to because:
It overlaps directly with Fertitta’s flagship Golden Nugget property.
Horseshoe Lake Charles used to be Isle of Capri and is smaller/less strategic than Golden Nugget.
Fertitta has invested heavily in Golden Nugget for years and likely values it more long-term.
So the cleanest regulatory solution could be:
Fertitta keeps Golden Nugget Lake Charles
sells Horseshoe Lake Charles to another operator
while keeping other Caesars assets elsewhere.
Nothing is official yet, though — this is still in early acquisition/regulatory stages

Tilman is unreal. That guy just blows right through risk, and it ALWAYS pays off for him.

The Fertitta family wants to buy me out? No, I buy you out; you don't buy me out.
