ChapGPT seems to think he will have to sell Horseshoe in Lake Charles due to state regulations if the deal goes through
quote:
Horseshoe Lake Charles - A Caesars Rewards Destination is already a Caesars property in the exact same Lake Charles market where Fertitta owns Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel & Casino.
So if Fertitta acquires Caesars, he’d directly control:
Golden Nugget Lake Charles
Horseshoe Lake Charles
and potentially have influence over a huge chunk of the southwest Louisiana casino market.
That’s much more likely to draw scrutiny than Shreveport/Bossier alone because Lake Charles is a heavily concentrated regional gaming market already dominated by a few mega-resorts:
Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel & Casino
L'Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles
Horseshoe Lake Charles - A Caesars Rewards Destination
plus nearby tribal competitor Coushatta Casino Resort.
Regulators would likely ask:
Does one owner control too much of the Houston feeder market?
Would competition weaken?
Could room pricing, sportsbook operations, or player rewards become too consolidated?
If divestitures happen in Louisiana, Horseshoe Lake Charles is one of the most obvious candidates analysts would point to because:
It overlaps directly with Fertitta’s flagship Golden Nugget property.
Horseshoe Lake Charles used to be Isle of Capri and is smaller/less strategic than Golden Nugget.
Fertitta has invested heavily in Golden Nugget for years and likely values it more long-term.
So the cleanest regulatory solution could be:
Fertitta keeps Golden Nugget Lake Charles
sells Horseshoe Lake Charles to another operator
while keeping other Caesars assets elsewhere.
Nothing is official yet, though — this is still in early acquisition/regulatory stages

Tilman is unreal. That guy just blows right through risk, and it ALWAYS pays off for him.

The Fertitta family wants to buy me out? No, I buy you out; you don't buy me out.

Why would he, doesn't Ballys own both The Queen and Bally's Baton Rouge in the same Market?
Also, who is up for the name change on the Dome to the Golden Nugget Superdome. Caesars goes through yet another facelift to be Golden Nugget New Orleans.
I will add that in Coastal Mississippi, Harrah's and the Golden Nugget are fairly close together. Maybe he can sell one if he likes. I think Harrah's was doing some room renovations, they recently updated the gaming floor with new carpet, and moved some food venues into a small food court by the non smoking section. I find Harrah's Gulf Coast a fairly small property compared to the other casinos, and it shows. The parking garage is fairly empty, but they are mainly a Caesar's destination Casino, and will offer trips for people to fly down to the coast at a reasonable cost. I get offers from Caesars to fly to Atlantic City, Reno, and Laughlin, for free or 99 dollars, including a hotel stay.
Meanwhile MGM, sends me an offer to stay at the Borgata for some outrageous price. At least MGM does offer me some decent stays in Vegas, but I have to provide my transportation there.

The whole Fertitta family is huge in gaming.
Tilmans cousins Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta are big in Vegas. Their dad Frank Jr started out as a dealer in the Stardust casino. For those who don’t know, the movie Casino was based on the Stardust Casino.
Maybe this will improve Vegas gaming back to what it used to be. Vegas is struggling bad it’s gotten too expensive. Bring back top notch service, room and meal comps, and cheap flights and it’ll thrive again. You gotta lure people to the gaming floor

He was eating at Vic n Anthony’s in the nugget last time I went. Was sitting right next to us with a couple other guys. Thought it was cool that he didn’t want a closed area, was sitting in the middle of the room. You’d never know it was him. Just a billionaire enjoying a dinner.

Can he buy some politicians in Texas, so we can get a casino or two?

Lots of speculation that the Fertitta’s very much want to own the Saints.
I welcome this, but he needs to sign some ironclad contract that he can't move the team for like 50 years.

Caesars wasted so much money advertising their sports betting app and I don’t think it made a dent market share wise.
