Lyme disease cases are increasing rapidly in Alabama. Go to however many doctors it takes to get the potential Lyme disease taken seriously. Some of these docs will brush it off because they never see it, but as already said, Lyme disease is no joke

I've never heard of a tick being "in" you either. That's why I was checking. Maybe he meant "on".

I've had plenty of itchy arse chiggers that I scratched until they looked like bullseyes.

Doc just prescribed a tetanus shot and 10 days of doxycycline. Said labs wouldn't show anything this early anyway and that I should worry if the redness doesn't start shrinking in 24-72 hours.

He seemed a little too upbeat though. A bit too jovial. Like he knows I'm a goner but doesn't want to tell me yet.

I had it. The 10 day dose didn't work. Basically put gas on it. I had to take doxycycline for 60 days to kill it.

Well frick. Why didn't the antibiotic work? Too far along? I feel like I'm catching this early.

I hate to hear that Lyme has gotten so far south. I get ticks on me all the time when I'm at my place in Arkansas. I know there's other not so nice stuff ticks carry but I thought at least we were safe from Lyme.

No clue. I work outside. Had a bunch of ticks. Few weeks later a major rash on my back. Went like you and got the 10 day cycle, and tested positive. CDC contacted me and I had to tell them every where I had been. Two weeks after finishing the 10 day cycle, the shite started. I could feel it progressing on my muscles. I went crazy on my Dr. He said it happens and told me 30 days would kill it. I told him 60. It took about two weeks tbh, but I was a believer after the failed first round.

I spend a lot of time in the woods and it is mu biggest concern by far. Always use 100% deet and do a throughout check after ever trip in the woods.

Lyme disease is not well understood but new studies are showing it to be a lot worse than first thought.

10 days isn't enough even if it's early Lyme. 100 mg po bid for 14–21 days

You've never heard of the head staying in your skin after the body is removed?

Sorry to hear about that happening. Luckily I found the tick within hours and noticed the rash with 48. Hopefully this kills it before it kills me.

If you do get a positive for Lyme, supposedly ketogenic diets do well to combat it. Look up Tim Ferris and lyme disease
