A time when planes weren’t infested with hoodrats and poors spending their stimulus checks.

This flight attendant is providing excellent customer service and there’s at least a reasonable chance she doesn’t vote Democrat

Notice the spacious cabins and how none of the patrons are sandwiched between a 400 pound diabetic and a screaming toddler

Nowadays you’re lucky to get a bag of crushed up pretzels and half a can of ginger ale

Reminder that these people are flying coach.

The golden days of aviation are well in our past, unfortunately.

And 90% of the posters in this thread would not have been able to afford tickets.

For some reason opened this thread thinking it was about hotels on Airline Hwy in BR and seeing The Alamo or Vel Rose (was that what it was called?). Or the Great Hall.

Airlines are just a flying city bus now. Nothing more than that

They were called stewards and stewardesses.

Because airliners were oceanliners in the sky.

I wish they would bring this back as a luxury thing for people with a love of air travel/nostalgia to splurge on. If they brought back a few 747s with Pan Am regalia and that kind of service to a few select destinations, I think people would book some flights for the experience.

My flight to Chicago recently lessened my belief in mankind.

I remember the first time I ever flew, maybe 1974? and we dressed as if we were going to church.

People dressed up to fly.

The stewardesses had to retire at age 31 (or thereabouts) and had to be trim and well groomed.

The pilots were experienced (often ex-military) and commanded respect.

Service was excellent.

Riffraff onboard was rare.

Such a flight would be $8k a ticket. A business model that would die faster than new coke.

Airlines aren’t an experience anymore. It’s just get me from pint A to point B as fast as possible.
