What area do your parents live in?

They moved from Central to The Preserve at Harveston off Bluenonnet near Nicholson. It’s very nice and very safe, but they still have to go to grocery stores and dr appts at various places and you just never know these days. The creep is creeping closer.

Scourge of the earth putting in tireless work to bring everything it touches to ruin.

What does BR need to do to get promoted to the next league in Ghetto Shootout?

And who gets relegated? Gary, IN?

Yeah, they are damn near by the UClub. I wouldn't worry much about it. We live way closer to shitty areas than they do.

since moving here, I think it is safe for me to assume that crime is never going to get better with the mayor and police chief we have.

so, can the mayor at least send a task force to clean up the litter, garbage, and busted tires and missing hubcaps along with cigarette butts that are prominent everywhere you look?

at least baton rouge can look cleaner and nicer while still being dangerous. that is my only ask from her administration.

Can’t even get a free tire shredder because it would be in the black part of town where all the dumped tires are.

Jackson Mississippi, under the guidance of SWB and MP.

MONTICELLO CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FTW

That's maybe 5-6 miles down Greenwell Springs but Park Forest isn't that far and I had a few friends who lived in there. It's a shithole now.

Imagine what the next census for BR and Louisiana is going to look like if crime issues continue to proliferate unencumbered in this next decade…

I think we are going to continue losing population. And it's middle class productive people that leave.

If I weren’t tied to the area for my job and the kids’ continuity in school, I would be gone.

Between JBE fricking things up at the state level and SWB fricking things up at the parish level, I think we are in a death spiral.

I think over 70% of this board feels that way.

I don't think we'll be in BR in 10 years but maybe for 4-5 more. I have a daughter who is about to start HS in August and a parent with a terminal illness so things are complicated. Getting old sucks.

Time flies, man. You’ll be picking out your new spot before you know it. You’re more of a mountains and cooler weather kinda guy, right?

Yeah, my wife wants to be able to drive to Birmingham easily so that's her only requirement. Asheville is a little left wing for my tastes but maybe 20 minutes outside of town would be OK.

Seasons, fall colors etc are my thing. I want to fly fish 3 days per week when I retire.

You’re going to feel so much better leaving BR. I get many people stay because of family obligations, but it’s easy to name 10 cities right off the bat that offer way more than BR could ever offer.

VMWare, Cisco, and Splunk are all offering 100% remote opportunities where you can literally go wherever you want.

I've had interviews with a few of these but at the time they wanted me to move to California and my wife shut all that down. Yeah, it was more money but really a lateral move when you adjusted for col. If they'd pay me that to live in the Blueridge Mountains I'd be there yesterday

Beautiful neighborhood, but they have to venture into the outer edge of Gardere to do anything or get anywhere
