MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Monroe Police Department is investigating a nightclub shooting that left people injured. Officers say it happened at club Nuuvo shortly before midnight on Christmas Day.
Frances Tower Retirement Community is down the street from the club. Resident Theresa Sutter says they are fed up with the crime that happens there.
"When they have a shooting it is a nuisance. It is a noisy place," Sutter said.
Officers say the shooting stemmed from an argument that happened inside of the club. Police say that is when the suspect opened fire. Resident Betty Jean says the shots sounded like fireworks.
"It was close. It felt close because I could hear it," Jean said. "I didn't get up because I was scared to go to my window because I did hear some shots."
Officers say the three victims are expected to recover.
"We would love to see that place closed down," Sutter said. "A lot of us, especially downstairs, are afraid a bullet may come through a door or window."
Residents tried getting the club closed down due to the crime last year, but failed. KNOE tried reaching out to the club's owner, but family members say he was not available.

You’ve got to be in a dark place in life to be going to Club Nuuvo in Monroe on Christmas night

I’m from West Monroe and work in Monroe and this is the first time I’ve ever heard of this place. Great marketing scheme
