13's are pretty bad. Bar backed from 4PM to 5AM on weekends back in my early college years. Good money but my feet were absolutely fried after the weekend.

Barbacking was 5x worse than bartending. Absolutely fricking terrible, but 11/hour + tipout was hard to beat compared to any other job at a college kid could get.

Don't nurses work 13 hour shifts?

I work 3 12 hour shifts a week. 4 days off every week. And whenever I want 8 days off in a row...I just schedule it that way. Work Sun, Mon, Tues night then off 8 days until the following Thurs, Fri, Sat. Instant 8 day vacation and I don't have to use a second of my vacation time for it. Or use that same tactic and add in 3 days vacation to be off a whole week ...for 15 days off.

I could never be a M-F 9-5r....what a shitty schedule.

The obvious downside is having to work the occasional weekend or holiday. It happens....but it's not like you work EVERY weekend and holiday. And those random weekdays off during the week are really nice for doctors appointments, errands, etc. We do our schedule a couple months in advance(I just submitted my October schedule). You just have to plan ahead if you want certain days off.

Well my husband works a typical M-F job..so he's only off on the weekends.

But he can usually easily take off if we want to have a long weekend or any other trips.

I don't mind us working different schedules though...means we aren't around each other 24/7. Our marriage thrives better when we both have time to ourselves.

With the US economy still where it is, the balance of power resides with employers.

Thusly, more work is getting squeezed out of those who work. (FU welfare moochers) I could see where 4 10's would somehow turn into 5 10's.

Currently doing 9-80, but I'd do 4-10s if they'd let me.

Maintenance crew here works 4-10's. They use to have every other week with 4 days off, that was awesome.

4/12's was the best summer job I ever had. Got 8 hours of OT, and Mondays off. Plenty of time to have a life.

5 and 2 is ridiculous. My standard schedule is 4 12's and I wish it was 3 16's. Admittedly this probably wouldn't be possible without my best friend Concerta. For the normal person though 4 10's is the best best. 2 days isn't enough for a decent weekend trip. 3 is about right.

THIS would be amazing. Unfortunately at most jobs, mine included, this wouldn't be the least bit feasible.

Work 72 hrs out of 5 days. One on one off. Then 4 days off. Best job in the world.

A 24 hour shift? Is that legal?
