Get mesmerized by the physical plant and scale and you risk missing some very important things about the avg experience of a mass education production plant that is the blueprint of many large Texas High Schools.
Lived in Texas’ large city / burbs for many years. Raised kids there. Took decision to get them outta there for HS. Many downsides that get overshadowed in the WOW factor of the bricks and mortar. Very much the right thing (for us).

DFW is ripe for a John Curtis to pop up they build these nice schools but the good areas won’t always stay the good areas

Who would want to be in a high school that big?

I went to a school that graduated 104 seniors. 70% black. That is 31 white kids. Assuming 50% girls, that is 15.5 white girls. Take out the fatties, the uglies, and the ones that have had a boyfriend since middle school, now remove the “save it til marriage” girls, there were 3-4 girls that were dateable/bangable, by all 15.5 guys.

Now let’s do a school of 6000. Assuming this is all high school. 6000/4=1,500 per class. I assume these schools are probably 60% white, so 450 white girls per class. If you use the same fat/ugly/taken ratio, that leaves 112.5 frickable girls in your class. I like those odds.

Are the schools near the border that nice? Those schools must have good NIL deals.

But if you’re complaining about systems encouraging students to try their best, then the problem might be with you

inputs->process->outputs (a system)

Good reminder. One of worst parts of said system is the admin focus on state test scores and resultant cost / time / effort that is focused on moving the school score needle. Not unique to TX but definitely evident in our experience. As that math goes, the focus is on the mean and attention goes to the mass of students below the mean. Those at the top actually do not move the needle and get far less of that effort. In middle school, felt like kids at top got way more disguised busy work as an outcome, not quite discouraged but would not call it encouraged.

Pressure placement on 7yo’s in sport by coaches did not conjure up positivity of “encouragement” in what I saw. That extended up to the 10th JV football team fielded in 7th grade that was effectively discouraged by virtue of sheer numbers.

No human system is perfect, true. Did not see said encouragement to the extent that you suggest. Just did not.

My daughter is a teacher in that district. It sits in between Ft. Worth and Denton.

NWISD is between Ft. Worth and Denton on I-35 W.

Texas Motor Speedway is inside that district, I believe.

A lot of wealthy people live in that area.
