Last year of college, wife graduated a year earlier than me, while my current roommate situation was forced to change up due to owner selling condo. Was easy for me to take her spot. Lived with two girls. Luckily, my wife spent 90% of her time in BR while going to grad school in NOLA. With it being her friends, it was a nice buffer to have her there. Still, it was weird living with a girl. Needing to use the dryer, but its filled with underwear.....sounds cool, but not all girls are supermodels who's panties you want to sniff. And in general, girls can be gross.

Good advice but I'll say this, you don't want to get caught up in banging her/them (or trying to). It'll create weird jealousy issues that'll go both ways. Getting drunk and fooling around is one thing, but trying to carry on a quasi-sexual relationship is going to be a problem. You want to be cool with whatever dudes come over and you want them to be cool with whatever chicks you bring over. It's better to keep it friendly/flirty. The play is that you gain their trust and they'll set you up with their friends and give you inside info about other chicks. Like telling you which ones want to bang you. It's like insider trading.
The girls I lived with ended up trusting me more than some of the girls in their own sorority. They'd tell me all kinds of shite.

I lived with a guy roommate before my now husband and I lived in sin together. We had similar backgrounds- both were Greek at SEC schools living in DC. Roommate and I had separate bathrooms- IMO that's a must when having a roommate of the opposite sex. Additionally, when we moved in together we were both in long-term relationships. Although his ended within a couple of months of us moving in, he and my husband became close and are still best friends to this day. My situation is definitely not the norm, but I had a good experience. I think if you're mature enough it can definitely work.

I don't know that a roommate being male vs female is as much of a concern as their personality.
I had a female roommate for years and I absolutely loved it.
I currently have another female roommate, my sister (no pics) and we get along great.
My 2nd sister (no pics) and I were roommates years ago as well and it was a disaster.
