quote:prayers sent. I got mine before i had a kid and when he is properly exercised he is great. when he isnt he is sooooo annoying. but we introduced the baby to him easily and he loves the kid. always lays bu him when he is playing on the ground.
Our next dog will be a Doberman and we plan to have kids in the next few years.

Gosh, that is one handsome boy. Makes me want the Doberman and kids ASAP. We still have the 3 year old Vizsla and the wife’s maltipoo, 2 is enough for now. But yes, I understand the never ending need for expertise with the Vizsla.....EVERYDAY

if your gonna clip his ears, we went to Dr. Teresa Gernon at Magazine St Vet. She did great. long show cut, i can send you more picks when your about to get one.
you want to do it between 8-11 weeks. and they will be posted for 6-10 months. Dont let the pansys on the internet scare you from doing it, it didnt bother ours at all.

My girlfriend at the time (now my wife) had one. Very cool dog. Kind of goofy, though. Don't bob the tail or cut the ears.

Aren't the ears just taped up?

No. They're cut.

The ears can be cut and/or pinned

I have 2 children... 2 and 7. Have a baby due in August. We just got an 8 week pup yesterday. Obviously sleeps more than anything now but is playful (mostly at night) imagine that right? Should I be worried as the dog gets older... 8-12months around my kids or infant... not that i would ever leave them alone with him... just curious. I’ve read/heard more PROS than CONS TBH. Thanks.
The absolute sweetest dog I have ever known was a dobermann, and the goofiest, too. I would not hesitate to get one for my kids.

Does everyone feel the same way about mini Dobermans, other than the intimidation parts?
Not at all. They are entirely different breeds. Also, they are called miniature pinschers, not mini dobes. They are right up there with chihuahuas as far as anxiety and annoyance.

Great dogs, although a bunch of them robbed a bank years ago.

Great dogs. I had them growing up. Black, Blue and a Fawn.
Extremely sweet, were protective but not aggressive. They all had health issues as they got older. I don’t think any lived past 8.
So know that you’re going to have a great dog but won’t be as long lived as a lot of breeds.
