Long nights training, and fitness is paramount.
You may experience medical problems later in life from repeated blows to the head.

Boxers are amazing animals. The first dog that I was fully responsible for was a boxer. I got him 11 years ago, but he passed away this past spring. He was an amazing friend and companion. Everyone loved him. My parents kept him for me while I was away at school and loved him so much that they've had 5 other boxers of their own since.

I recently had to put down my boxer, Bentley. I will definitely be getting another boxer when I am ready. Keep in mind that they are high-energy, strong, and attention-seeking. Also they are considered to be "tumor-factories", at least that was the term my vet used. Cancer is what inevitably got the best of Bentley.

Best dogs in the world. Fiercely loyal, great around kids, intelligent, and playful. Yes, needy and attention hungry, but funny. They can be mischievous because they know your rules, but sometimes want to test you.
I recommend a fawn female with the ears cropped.

Loyal. Loving. Great family dog. It will protect your property till death. Tons of energy, and will be very hyper, so know that going in. Can be annoying at times. The major con is how prone to cancer they are. It will die from it in 8-10 years. Also, mine tore both ACLs in her hind legs, and was $1800 to repair.
ETA:
Not really an outside dog. They need to be a part of the family. The one I had as a kid was kept outside, and his "property" was the neighborhood. Literally killed any animal that put a toe on his land. It was an issue.

Great dogs, but typically around 10 years is about the longest lifespan.

Best dog you could ever possibly get.

Lots and lots of hair on everything. We found hair on things 2-3 years after our boxer passed.

Loyal as any pet and hilarious to observe and play with. Keep their nails clipped... You'll know why after they greet you and claw your belly or nuts a few times. Wasn't easy to train, though. Pretty head in the clouds type dog. Won't hurt a fly so no issue with kids.

Great dogs. They are high energy as puppies and remain that way for several years. Ours was easy to train and great with kids.

What are you looking for in a dog?
I got one from a rescue. Took him to obiedence school. He was an amazing dog. You wouldn't come into my house without thinking your head was going to be ripped off, however he wouldn't bite a fly.

The one I had was hyper as shite as a puppy. At 2-3 years he was a great dog, lots of personality. Had some health issues. Made it like 12 years.
