My Dad paid for two weddings. About 30 years+ ago and both ended up in divorces. Both those weddings receptions were awesome.. If I remember they were about 10 grand each. I just remember getting laid.. the booze and the giant boiled shrimp.

I have zero problem with people having expensive weddings if they want. But if they have to ask parents (rather than having it freely offered), it doesn’t sound like it’s affordable for them.

Yes!!! The honeymoon is WAYYYYYYYYY more memorable than the actual wedding night. Nobody ever remembers more than 25% of the actual wedding night. Spending that much on the wedding is fricking ridiculous:

Seems like their best option would be to do a wedding for 30K then.
You can have a kickass wedding for 500 people at a very good venue for 30k. 50 Seems unnecessary .

Unless your brother is loaded, he is terrible with money. It’s a ceremony. It’s one day. Put that shite as a down payment on a home.

Can I see a raise of hands for investment bankers at Goldman Sachs posting on Tiger Droppings?

My first wedding was paid for by my inlaws, I have no idea what it cost, but I would guess 10K. I had no idea about my inlaws finances, so I don't know if it was a stretch for them or not.

Got divorced 4 years later.

My 2nd wedding the wife and I paid (actually it was all me), cost me about $5K, and another $5K for the honeymoon.

That was more than enough to say we had a great one. How does money make a wedding that much better anyway?

Just because you are an awful drunk and don’t remember the wedding doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good one. LOL

She'll finally get the wedding she wants....fast forward a couple of years will feel like she missed out cause she never dated anyone else while in her 20s and she'll leave but get to keep the house and the dog. While your brother is still paying off the princess wedding.

LMAO, what a stupid way to start a life together, my wife and I got married in my fathers backyard. No one outside of family and very close friends give a shite about or want to go to your wedding.

I've seen JoP weddings do well and 100k weddings do well.

It's none of my business.

Whatever makes you happy.

Wtf

My wife knows a ton of people and actually maintains relationships, so a small wedding was out of the question. We had around 200 people, had Ruffino's cater the reception, and still spent a little less than half of that.

$50k is just stupid.
