I understand there's inflation, however blaming it on a one year advanced credit is asinine.
Advanced credit it a lie and you know it.
Those that don't meet the minimum financial requirements owe nothing. Those that do will have to pay for it either in the short term or long term.
This is a redistribution of wealth. Nothing more, nothing less.
I want good roads for everyone.
I want good schools for everyone.
I want safe food for everyone.
I want clean water for everyone.
I want a strong military for everyone.
I want disabled people to be cared for.
I want shelter for those that try but have none.
I do not agree with paying taxes to cover those who will not work for what I want.

You're philosophically right, but it's childish to think new spending is paid for by your tax dollars or anyone's tax dollars. We've been spending more than we've received for decades. And we aren't paying off debts ever. Your grandkids are more likey to pay for it with their blood than their dollars.

Don't think for a minute that I don't know that.
It breaks my heart.

It's always been this way. We've been relatively lucky the last 50 years, but mankind fights. The natural state of humanity is war.

Were talking about who does and doesn't qualify for the 2021 child tax credit Rousseau

I am not fatalistic and don't agree with your premise.
War sucks a lot. I think we can be smarter than that by meeting in the middle. After all, the majority of us are in the middle. Who put the 5% finge, on both sides, in charge?

You have no idea.
Go away.

If you think people are smarter than war and can work things out with confrontation you're the one with no idea.
Are you aware of, I guess about I don't know, the entirety of human history?

If they’re doing that, you know the answer.

Who is we? And who is saying war isn't smart? We're talking global politics now.

We, mostly.

That money goes to whatever they want anyways. And by they, I mean me too. Do I really have to take that money and only spend it on my kid? Or can I put that towards bills and shite?

Because I'm paying it.
So are we. And did you have a problem with it when we just got it when filing taxes?
Eta: I really don't like the fact that I am agreeing with Mingo and The Spleen in this thread, but here we are.
Anyone receiving this money gets it when they file taxes anyways.
Now if they problem is that people that don't file taxes are getting it too then that is a problem.

Those spending the child tax credit check on misc expenses Posted by lsu xman on 7/17/21 at 5:41 pm Using the child tax credit check on things like getting their hair and nails done, new cell phone, new fake lashes, do they feel guilty not spending it on their kids?
Maybe my understanding of the semantics of the word is wrong, but those seem to be more like “luxury” items than miscellany ???

Except the credit almost doubled, and its refundable. Lots of folks with no tax liability are getting this credit. This isn't just a redistribution of the old credit.

Do people not realize this is their partial child credit, that they will have to reconcile on next year's return? This isn't stimulus or free money, it is merely an advance, which is ridiculous.

I don't believe I should have to pay property taxes for schools, since I chose not to have children. But, I do. A fire department, when I have never used their services. We pay for many things we don't use. And many don't pay for the things they do...

Yep, basically a trial run for universal basic income. I imagine most people who profit from this do not have a federal tax liability.
This isn't the same as last years credit, its more. And knowing government, this isn't going to be a one time deal.
