Why are they SO BAD at predicting snow?

We were supposed to get 7-10” of snow today, but got about 1.5” of ice instead.

Snow is the hardest thing to predict. I used to work with a weatherman and he told me that an inch of rain equates to a foot of snow. So if you predict a quarter inch of rain and get a half inch, not a big deal, but change that to snow and it goes from three inches to six inches, which is a pretty big difference.

They’re calling for another round Wed to Thursday. Of course that could be anywhere from 0-8” but whatever it is will be on top of what’s already on the ground.

No...we basically got tiny sleet all day. It accumulated up from 1-2” on the ground and deeper in drifts.

It didn’t stick to trees or lines too much, because they already have a thin sheet from Saturday.

Because it’s tough to predict potential dry lines and what will transpire layer wise in the atmosphere (warm layers = sleet versus snow).

We’ll likely get 4-5 total here in Louisville and was initially predicted double that. That’s still a decent snow. shite happens. I don’t get people who get all ragey with weathermen about it.
