For purposes of admissions, international admissions is its own self-sustaining quota.

Pakistanis do very well academically in the United States, though, too. It doesn't hurt that many are sons and daughters of doctors and college professors that came over in the 1970's and 1980's.

This perpetuates the model minority stereotype and myth.

An overwhelmingly majority of east and south Asian immigrants have advanced/doctorate degrees. Studies have shown that you're more likely to have a doctorate if you have someone in your household that has one.

It perpetuates a myth that they are smarter..harder working..etc when in actuality they are jsut doing what any other son and daughter of a successful person, across race, does --- succeed. Success breeds success, regardless of race. What dummies do is go and use this as a example or model for why other groups aren't doing well, when our immigration policies explicitly pin pointed the worlds best and brightest and brought them here.

South Asia and east Asia are ridden with poverty and much more examples of folks we'd consider failures/ wouldn't live up to these stereotypes

affirmative action

Isn't this a form of reparation? And it has been going on for 55+ years.....

quote:

In 1961, President John Kennedy issued executive order 10925, which created the Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity and mandated that federally funded projects take "affirmative action" to insure that hiring and employment practices were free of racial bias.

Just found this:
quote:

President Franklin D. Roosevelt took the first step in 1941, when he issued a directive forbidding defense contractors from using racially discriminatory hiring practices.

quote:

The words "affirmative action" — the idea that traditionally disadvantaged groups deserve special consideration — first appeared in a 1961 executive order from President John F. Kennedy regarding hiring by federal contractors.
