With the current civil unrest going on in America, you truly think that this is not a possible scenario, whether it be your home or business?

Who is going to pay for it, more school kids are killed in school bus crashes than by school shooters, but school buses don't have seat belts and other safety features because it has been decided the additional lives saved would not justify the increased cost, with that mentality prevailing in school districts more armed personal is not happening.

Motor Vehicles are a million times more efficient. You can drive your car through a crowded intersection or a school yard at lunch. Better ban all motor vehicles.

Also Pipe bombs at school assemblies. Better ban nails and marbles and pipes and gas and butane while we're at it.

Buddy you've got to buy your own printer and toner, but here's a shiny new pistol for your classroom. Please use responsibly!

What are you talking about man? We have never had natural disasters or police killings or super bowl victories that have left entire cities without rule of law for hours or days or weeks at a time

Columbine had a rent-a-cop-like system with one guard on duty armed only with a hand gun.

I’m not advocating for everyone with an assault rifle to turn in their guns. That is a ridiculous request. No one is saying that at all actually.

You can however stop selling assault rifles to anyone who passes a background check. Then require everyone to keep guns at gun ranges. Which can only be enforced if you see someone with a semi automatic rifle outside of gun ranges. Then you fine them, take the gun to the gun range of their choosing where it can be stored.

There are a lot of good and different ways to increase gun control. Shouting it’s taking our freedom, it’s the only way to protect my home because apparently pistols and shotguns can’t, and these people are going to do it anyways is just silly arguments in my opinion.

School shootings like this are an american pandemic. Not worldwide. There are shootings at schools in other countries, but not in the large numbers as here. I guess you can blame the healthcare system as well? But I doubt the people who are shouting gun control is taking my freedom are the type of people who want universal healthcare that would allow these type of people to get mental healthcare to maybe prevent this.

Continue to work on designs for a more secure school. We're not turning them into prisons but castles, protecting those inside from outside threats.

Motor vehicles contribute so much to society economically, socially, etc. and are much more restricted than guns by the government, guns are good for controlling the population of deer.

Pretty much the same trade offs here right?

No shite. We were told this year we can get a “free thing of toner” once a semester!!!!! What a damn deal!!!

Still gotta pay $2 to wear jeans on Fridays though

But hey there’s plenty of money in the budget, as long as it goes to buying us weapons

Nice deflection. Now I see why you're in this thread, and no need to take anything you're saying seriously. You move the goalposts to support your poor argument. The matter discussed was an individual protecting his home (I added business). If you don't think in times of civil unrest, one person's home, or business, has ever been invaded by large groups of armed thugs, you're just being dishonest.

But keep changing the argument every time someone points out the flaw in your statement. I'd do the same if I had an agenda I couldn't honestly defend.

Define assault rifle.

How can I protect my home or my car or myself or hunt if my gun is at some range somewhere?

It already is for everyone that goes. There is no protection from attacks like the other day.

I use my AR-15 to hunt wild pigs. Are you going to bring them to the gun range? Seems a little unsportsmanlike

My father in law is packing. He's a teacher who got trained and is carrying a gun at school. School paid for him to have the classes and it's a hush hush that he has one at school

Don't think so....if he did, then I apologize for misunderstanding. I thought he was making the point that there is never a legitimate reason for owning an AR for home defense, and his reasoning was that there will never be an "army" that invades your house. (or business, I added business to point out guns are also used to defend businesses, for instance, riots, etc. )

Okay. So how many mass killings in America have there been this year using motor vehicles? And where can you easily buy pipe bombs? Because with your argument, we could just ban guns all together and you can go just build you own gun. Then it’s a win win? And I think someone mentioned that with the civil unrest, you might legitimately have a small army of people trying to kill you? Really?

Every argument against gun control has been just hypotheticals. But we know that with these school shootings, most of the semi automatic rifles have been bought legally. Sometimes not obtained by the person the self, but in this last shooting he got it legally.

Better gun education doesn’t stop psychopaths from getting semi automatic rifles. It just teaches people how to use them more effectively.
