Reading the Advocate obits today and came across this one. Usually we are reading about someone elderly who died or someone killed in a wreck or something similar. Rare do we read today about someone who dies of giving birth or complications from birth.

Don't know these people but this family and this baby could use some prayers.

quote:

Molley Carilyn Boone Cartwright was born on April 16, 1986, in Ruston, Louisiana. She passed from this earth to her heavenly home in the early hours of February 20, 2018, in Baton Rouge, after having delivered her precious son, Braddock Stone Cartwright, on February 19 at 12:42 p.m. a healthy baby boy of 9 lbs. 2 oz. and 22 1/2 inches long. Molley is survived by her beloved husband, Hunter Paul Cartwright; their precious son Braddock;....

There is a picture on FB (public page) of her wearing an oxygen mask as she got to see her son. At least there was that mercy.

As I said, that family could probably use some prayers and the OT has been good about providing those when needed over the years.

I believe someone knew her and posted about it the other day. That’s a rough one.

That's a damn shame. I have a daughter and couldn't imagine becoming a new dad and losing my wife at the same time.

One of the FB pages said something about setting up a meal train for the baby and his dad.

Forgive my medical ignorance, but did she know she was about to die? Hence the oxygen mask? It just seems like today they’d be able to save someone from this.

Not necessarily. Two friend of mine nearly died from childbirth, one went into a severe coma. Both were severe type I diabetics. No clue about this one, don't want to know. Just pointing out that for some, childbirth is not a sure thing.

Wow, that is heartbreaking. Watching her excitement, to a picture of her struggling to breathe while holding her baby, to news of her death.
From her husband (I can't imagine):
quote:

Baby, I only thought I knew how much I loved you before. Jesus you were so incredible throughout the entire pregnancy but the way you fought to make sure we got our baby out as quickly as possible and were so selfless once he was born even though you were struggling. Then the bravery you showed once your body began to fail you. So incredibly powerful the strength you displayed even through the scariest of situations. I always knew you were special and you were different than everyone else but now I truly know you were one in a billion. #endAFE

I'm guessing she passed away from Afe.

Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a pregnancy complication that causes life-threatening conditions, such as heart failure. ... It happens when amniotic fluid (the fluid surrounding your unborn child) or fetal cells, hair, or other debris make their way into your blood. AFE is rare.Oct 7, 2016

Damn, I know Hunter from back in the day but had no clue his wife was battling for her life.

RIP to her and prayers for family and friends. Hope they can find a way to make it through these tough times.
