This board sure has changed its tune lately
Not really. At some point absolutely everything possible was said, predicted, commented on. It was then applauded and ridiculed simultaneously.

You mean models produced with extremely little data weren't accurate? Nobody knew much of anything about Coronavirus and the only hotspot was also a complete shitshow in regards to accurate data to pull. As more information and data has come in the models have become substantially more accurate. Now that we have significantly more information about the quantity of asymptomatic cases, we can make more informed decision.
I’ll never understand how people think this is an acceptable justification for the actions that have been taken.
If you know the models you’re producing aren’t being created with a proper dataset, then you keep working to improve the models before publishing them.
Oh yea. And you do not completely shutdown the economy, put millions of people out of work, force the permanent closure of thousands of small businesses, tell people they can’t receive certain medical procedures, prevent people from seeing their families, and effectively force otherwise healthy people to quarantine themselves in their own homes because of these inadequate models.
Yet here we are.

Sounds like he had the situation properly analyzed from the outset.
Amazing what happens when you refuse to panic. Everything is much more clear.
The biggest disappointment is the utter drama and panic by the very average American.

I seriously doubt many people, if any, on here wanted this. Come on now.

Yeah, everybody thumping their chest now was predicting like a thousand deaths total
“But the over-counting!”
And then they bitch about moving goal posts.
Insanity.

Other than not going to places that have closed, I haven’t changed my life one bit while the rest of you sheep walk around with your useless gloves and masks like daddy JBE told you to.

Yes I am pissed football season will be pushed back DAMMIT
I heard on a sports talk radio show today that some NCAA committee said teams need six weeks to be ready to play a game. The talk show did the math and said with that timeframe the players would need to be on campus by around July 20 to play games that last weekend in August.
but we will see.

Obviously I was generalizing, but scrolling through the 300-400 pages of that corona mega-thread will lead you to some real doozies.
One poster predicted zero cases in Louisiana for fricks sake

Whatever you say, bub. I’m sure you’ve never casually generalized a statement on a message board.
If you or any human anywhere that reads English thought that I literally meant EVERYBODY predicted EXACTLY 1000 cases, then they need more help than I can provide. It’s colloquial.

Several of us said it would basically equate to a bad flu season in terms of numbers.
And we were spot fricking on.
