You say less than 10k miles but to truly be a demo/loaner it should have under 6k miles. Anything over that and it should be sold as a used vehicle. Double check the mileage so you're not getting hosed.

I’d be scared to buy a vehicle that deprecates that much before it hits 10k miles

I bought an A6 3.0 Quattro with 4K miles on it a few years ago and it has worked out. Better financing options offer plus 100k warranty. Knocked $13k off msrp plus I got $12k on my trade in.
I knew the car I wanted and searched for two months in dealerships in 5 cities until one came available. Made the drive and once I saw it was in good shape, I pulled the trigger.
Only thing I would ask about is the previous owner. My situation was someone bought the car and traded it in bc the wanted something bigger. Sometimes the loaner vehicle are driven hard by the general public and made me nervous.

OP, is the $16k off the lowest price you can buy a new one for or is it the amount off sticker? Let's say the car MSRP is $80k. If it's a new hot model and it normally sells for not much off, $16k may be good. But if sticker is 80 and it normally sells for 72 and you're getting it for $64 it may not be worth it.

Probably should dump the rover soon. They have meticulously planned for massive failures right outside warranty scope.
