Agree with CAD. I live in Thompson’s Station, a little further south. It, Franklin or Brentwood is the place to be. Great private schools, highly ranked public school system and mostly MAGA.

I cannot believe that a lawyer with a family and three small children who has ostensibly worked hard through law school (which is usually a character building experience) would have to ask a message board about a career move as an attorney. You should surrender your license to practice now.

Dude relax. I ask shite on here for all kinds of things. This board isn't so bad.

Your only regret will be why you didn't move here sooner

My daughter is at CPA and my son is starting at walnut Grove. You couldn't ask for better schools.

Nice. I’ll be looking forward to the recon visit. Houston has simply gotten to a point where I either need to break down and move to Memorial and deal with that bullshite or get out entirely. I’m also generally tired of flooding, hurricanes and unending heat.

Not asking about a career move. Asking about a life move. I’m still gonna be a soul sucking lawyer.

I lived in Houston for 6 years and when I moved here I knew I would never go anywhere else

Let me know when you're in town. We can do lunch and I'll give you the scoop.

Buy a road bike if you don't already have one. Cycling is amazing here.

Thompson’s Station,

They had a great little farm to table restaurant near a church that I ate at. I believe it occupied an old plantation house. Great place and terrific food. Sadly, I believe it closed in 2019.

Edit ... restaurant name escapes me at the moment.

Nashville public schools are horrendous. You’d need to go private in Davidson County.

Is there anything in particular about practicing in Houston or Texas that's making you leave? I'm in NJ and got let go recently, I picked up a new job and start soon but frankly I feel like I'm not going anywhere career and life wise and am wondering if now or the near future is time for a change. Houston was actually a place I was thinking of going. Texas is seemingly pretty decent with waiving in/admission by motion.

Houston is a great place to make money. I live in the burbs so the schools are good (though gigantic - 5000 kids in the high schools). If you live near the city, you’ll actually get to enjoy the amenities of a large city with diverse food and a lively bar scene. But it’s hot as frick, the hurricanes are annoying, it floods like hell, it’s MASSIVE, there are a frickload of people here and it’s got very little in the way of outdoors activity that I’m interested in. Particularly being well over an hour away from the Gulf and fishing. And schools in the city are arse unless you test into the vanguard program.
