hate to be a dick, but you can't manage THAT dog? I thought you had a Rott/GS/lab or some other large breed dog. Suck it up and train it. YOU train the dog. You got it, you made the commitment, now you handle it. I know its hard to find the time and all, but pets aren't disposable. you cant just say "oh well I've moved on, screw you". You going to do the same with the kid when it gets playful?

People that give their dogs away when they have babies are fricked up IMO. That being said, if you can find a good home for her let her live there.

2 whole months? Do you have kids?

The dog was already 6 months when I got it. It would not even attempt to train and I have never had a dog that would bark all night, every night for that amount of time.

Crate or outdoors when baby is playing. Cute dog. I have a street rescue for 2 years now, prob 100 lbs. haven't been able to find her a home. I guess she's mine now.

Wow dude you're a POS. Either that or just dumb, do you think a puppy just trains itself?

Well, we gave her away. Much harder than I was anticipating but I feel good about her new home. Put her online free to good home and knew I wanted to meet the person/semi-interview them before letting her go. Woman was very nice, has 3 kids over the age of 5 so she will get plenty of activity with them. Her middle son has been in cancer remission for a year and she promised him a puppy when he was healthy. That makes me happy that he gets that. She has been updating me on her progress and is willing to send pictures/let us visit whenever we want. I won't bug her but it's nice that she's willing to let us know how she's doing for a little while.

I can't help but feel guilty. I think she will get much more exercise/attention at her new home but I always thought that if you get a dog, you commit to the responsibility. Sorry to all who disagree.

Yeah, but it's a win-win for all parties involved.

Don't feel guilty. You did the right thing for your kids and the dog. It sucks to have to do it because the dog feels like a part of your family.

We have a large dog, think she is part lab part hound. Someone dumped her on our block. Have had her 2+ years. Moved with 4 dogs and 6 cats. The large dog is getting more and more dominant, showing her teeth and growling at my other dogs, one who is 15 years old. Large dog will probably go to pound this week. She almost knocked me down a few times last week. Can't handle her much more.
