Carlsbad Caverns taught me a lesson I'll never forget back in June. Didn't think I would ever reach the bottom. My legs were like jelly. Thankful for the elevator ride back up.

Touch the rim of a basketball goal. I am only 5'5, but always had a great vertical jump, and have freakishly long arms. I have not been able to do it since I was 32.
The other thing I used to do routinely but cant anymore is swim a 200 yard IM in under 2 minutes. In high school and through college I could go about 1:50, but I started adding time around 25. I stayed around 1:55, then one day I timed myself and it was 2:10. I have never gotten below that since.

I shot a deer the other day on the edge of a hill which drops off 40 feet or so. Well of course it ran 4 steps and down the hill. Still feeling dragging it back up the hill.
I had to drag one 50 yds out a briar thicket last week, stopped three times to rest. I am still feeling it in my knee.
When I turned 40 it was like I aged 10 years, 24yrs in the oilfield will take a toll on your body.

I'm 31 and committed myself a year ago to getting back in shape and taking care of myself. Last year at this time I was in terrible shape. While after a ear of getting back in shape, i feel much better and can do a lot more but recovery time from 20-25 years old as opposed to 30+ is night and day no matter how good of shape you are in.

I just stand there looking down. Dreading it
