A State Trooper friend said he always walks up to the driver's window & tells the driver "hold that thought". Works more often than not, as "they get the idea".

Most of those seem to be cop responses to dumbass or ignorant questions.
Never had a single problem with the police after getting pulled over. Of course my father taught me to put the windows down and put by hands on the steering wheel so the cop could see me when he approached.
Judging from the majority of those "quotes" the problem might be looking back at you in the rearview.
