Only restaurant I found that was good was the Old Mill Cafe. We had the best time just exploring the National Park hiking on some trails and playing in the creeks, wish we would have spend more time there. Dollywood is a nice park for a day trip.

Leave.

That place will be my eternal hell. There is nothing but ungodly traffic, magic shows and pancake houses everywhere.

That place makes Baton Rouge feel like a vacation.

Just looking for the good places to eat mainly.

This; and book a white water rapids expedition. Wife and I went last summer and it was definitely the highlight of the trip. We used Big Creek Expeditions in Hartford (about a 30 minute drive from Gatlinburg).

You have to be specific for what you're going for.

Smoky Mountain Knife Works is insane. I spent about 2 hrs in there the week after Christmas and could've spent more.

Old Mill in Pigeon Forge is good eating. We ate at Paula Deens too which I thought was fantastic.

Apple Barn Winery was a lot of fun. Wine was good, they make fresh apple fritters with vanilla ice cream which was great.

The national park is beautiful, just pay attention to the weather.

I have no desire to do any of the touristy trap places in Pigeon Forge. If I go back with just the wife, we're getting a cabin somewhere and just enjoying the scenery.

Pancake Pantry! best pancakes I've ever eaten. Also, the lumberjack show was pretty good.

explore cade's cove, numerous trails to hike, huge arts and crafts district, clingmans dome (it will be cold,be prepared),take the short drive thru wears valley to townsend and eat at riverstone grill....yes pigeon forge and parts of gatlinburg are "touristy"...but you are not limited to that.there is a lot to do.

kind of a long drive, but head over the mountains to Franklin, NC. There is a little gas station in the middle of town called Hot Spot, it has a restaurant attached to it called Caffe REL. don't go on a Sunday or Monday.

Take a drive to Highlands from there and check out a nice town instead of that redneck hellhole that is gatlinburg/sevierville/pigeon forge.
