Go march in the Austin Pride Parade: LINK

There's a free event with lots of good bands at 1PM on Saturday:
OLD 97'S W/ THE BLACK ANGELS, GRUPO FANTASMA, DALE WATSON & LATASHA LEE

Just landed. It's cool to have blue or purple hair here apparently. Also 5 minutes in before I saw someone wearing something anti-American. Not like the rest of Texas besides the tall blondes at UT

Like to swim? Go to zilker park and pay a couple bucks to swim in Barton Springs pool. It's a huge public pool fed by cold spring water. It's really awesome.

You can also rent kayaks or paddle boards nearby there and paddle into the lake in town.

For a fun place to go at night, check out Rainey St. Lots of good beer bars. There is also a food truck park there.

32 & 27. We like music and drinking. Staying for the weekend. No pics. We are planning to go to Barton's springs for sure and go kayaking.

Everybody's recommending Franklin but nobody is warning of the 4+ hour wait?

Go to John Mueller Meat Co

Thanks for all the recommendations. Austin was a very cool city, I wanted to update yall on our trip. We stayed busy our short time there...

Saw the bats
Kayaked Lake Ladybird
Checked out 6th St.
Added some graffiti to the graffiti wall
Had a beer at the saints bar (Shoal Creek Saloon)
Ate some good barbeque (Went to Iron Works... Franklin was sold out)
Ate at Hopdoddy (man those burgers were really good)
GF did some shopping on SOCO
Checked out some local music
Saw a comedy show at Cap City Comedy Club (Mary Lynn Rajskub was very funny)
Went to the Pride parade (It's weird watching a parade and not having a beer in your hand)
We also went to McKinnly falls on our way out.

It was a great trip... Austin lived up to the hype... one of the coolest cities I've been to.

Looks like you fit in a lot of stuff in one weekend. Glad to hear you had a good time!

Cap city comedy is pretty famous and a lot of good stand up acts come there pretty regularly.

Not surprised about Franklin. I hope you didn't wait too long. Iron works is ok. Next time try John Mueller, La BBQ, Mickelthwaites, or Stiles Switch.

Yeah, I had a hard time adjusting to the open container laws here too...

We went to get a late lunch around 2:30... there was a sign on the door saying they were sold out so we went to Iron Works which had no wait.

We got lucky at Hopdoddy's. We got there around 11:15 with no wait and by the time we got our food the line was already out the door.

There were a ton of food places that I didn't get to try that I would've like to. Also we didn't have time to go to Lake Travis so another trip will need to happen.
