Quit trying to force Alaska into the conversation. It’s not happening.

WTF? When is Alaska considered "The West?" It's marginally even considered in the Northwest.

Yes, I was in Whitefish a few months ago and Point Reyes Station not long after that. I’ve spent a lot of time in the outdoors out west.

You’re comparing apples to oranges here, I think. The humidity of the south makes for some unique horizons.

I love how we celebrate things, sometimes just spontaneously with strangers joining in the fun. Like second lines, Mardi Gras, weddings, even funerals etc.

I love how when a hurricane comes by and knocks out the power that we have a feast of all the frozen food.

I love how we can easily cook up huge pots of jumbalaya to feed a hundred people.

I love how we showed the world that we can do it on our own and not wait for the govt to come save our people when we have a huge flood.

I love how Louisiana has been owned by many different countries so it has a rich diverse history of how we came together to create great food from whatever was available.

I love the bayous and swamps. Sure pretty beaches of white sand and blue water are pretty but to me the bayou calls to me. Its always so beautiful to me. I live right on the water and fish from my porch each day.

So what is it then? It's the northwest most state in the Union. It's west of 48 other states.

Maybe it's not the "Pacific Northwest", but geographically, it's both west and northwest.

The first thoughts that came to me was a crawfish boil and an LSU tailgate. Go figure, both involve a party, friends, family, food, and drink. That pretty much sums up Louisiana.

Because Louisiana is the only state that has these...

I don't think some of you have ever left the state.
